Additional Information

Getting support doesn't mean adding extra weight when it comes to this ultra-light yet stable turn-hugger. It starts with our perfected Rounded Heel that aligns your strike, and then transitions to a sculpted medial midfoot with a wider and more integrated Nav Band, finishing with supreme flex, featherweight materials, and full-throttle looks. The result: feeling supported without feeling the shoe.

Just like our core line, we hold PureProject to the industry’s highest weartest and durability standards. Because of their lightweight construction and fewer materials, runners should generally expect shoes from the PureProject line to last approximately 250-300 miles.

I was lucky to be able to wear test these shoes, and they showed up on my doorstep just as I was entering my big mileage months training for my first marathon. I hated the PC 2, and had stockpiled the 1s...and was wary about the 3s.

Out of the box though, they felt great! They weren't as narrow as the 1s, which I thought would be a problem, but turns out my feet appreciated a little more space. They were also well-cushioned and had ample toe-box room. I definitely felt the switch to isolating the first two toes instead of just the big toe. Having just the one toe isolated always put a lot of pressure on that inside foot bone for me. Traction-wise, I ran in the rain and on some pretty slick bridges and never felt like I was going to lose my footing. In the 1s, I never felt terribly stable on wet surfaces.

I ran runs varying from 4 miles up to my big 20-miler. Sadly, my marathon ended up being cancelled or else I would've worn these shoes for the race. My current pair has 135 miles on them, and I expect they'll only get the usual 180-200 miles I seem to get from the PCs. I wear a rigid OTC arch support with the shoes, and find them to be incredibly comfortable.

I'm so happy with the update of this shoe. I was terrified I'd have to go hunting for a new shoe. Now Brooks, DON'T CHANGE IT. :)

I ran 23 marathons and ultras in the original PC. Those shoes were heavenly, and I wore out 8 pairs. The switch to angled laces in the PC2 was a disaster, loosening and causing injury during my distance runs. I've been waiting a year for this PC3 and was crushed to see they were designed with the angled laces again. In addition to that, the stitching across the toe joints pinched just walking around in the store. Yikes. I couldn't buy them, and I'm so bummed.
I have a hard time believing the glowing reviews on this website are from actual runners/customers. This shoe is not like the original PC.
I love love love the original version of this shoe, and so did many others - I used to see lots of people wearing Pure Cadence at marathons.. Go back to the original design for the PC4 and I will come sprinting back as a customer. For now, I need to find other shoes for my 2014 race season.

    Comments about PureCadence 3:

I started running 2 years ago and my first shoe was the Mizuno Elixr 7. I continued to buy the same shoe and the one time I bought a pair of Adidas shoes on sale, I ended up spended $250 at a chiropractor when all I needed was change to a shoe that worked better for me.

Since the Elixr was discontinued, I've been nervous about switching thinking the same thing would happen. Lucky for me, I found and tried the Brooks PC3 and I love them! They are so light and I feel great running in them. No issues with blisters or anything. I do have a decent arch in my foot, but I always use SuperFeet inserts in my running shoes and with them I love the shoe. Will definitely be buying more!

This shoe fits like a glove. It feels like I'm running on clouds when I wear them. When they were first delivered to my house I tried them on and didn't take them off for two hours! Even went to the store in them and i was wearing a floral sun dress! They were that comfortable! Best pair of shoes I've ever owned.

Made me learn to invest in my feet

        Comments about PureCadence 3:

Before buying this pair of shoes I was previously not sold on the idea that you have to "invest in your feet".

I am a newer runner (with in the past 2 years) and am training for my first marathon. After I started noticing my legs and feet being sore (almost to throbbing pain) every night I decided maybe there was a chance it was the shoes I was running in. After being convinced by my mom (an avid runner) to try Brooks, I did. This was the best decision I ever made for my feet. I have been running in these shoes through rain, wet conditions, dry conditions, on short trails, and on the road approximately 15-25 miles a week for the past month and a half and have not had one issue with my legs or feet. The shoes I was using previously seemed to break down extremely quickly considering I had used them for the gym and recreational use only and they were already causing me great pain. These shoes feel light on my feet and they help decrease the impact I feel on my legs while running. The one thing that I don't like as much is the shoe laces. they're not very long and hard to double knot. I know this is more of a materialistic "glamour" thought that has nothing to do with the way the shoe actually performs, but it would be nice to have a little longer less stiff laces.

None the less, the bottom line is I am a HUGE Brooks fan now and see why everyone raves about it. In my opinion.. why fix what is working? I will be buying Brooks from here on out.

            Comments about PureCadence 3:

Another release of the PureCadence series bites the dust for me. These are awful. The angled lacing design creates a pinching on the top of the foot between the bridge and the big toe that I've never experienced in another shoe. I have bruises from trying to break them in and I'm only a 10mpw runner. I LOVED the first round of these, all I want is my PureCadence first editions back, why mess with a great thing? These are a huge disappointment. I probably won't buy another pair of PureCadence until Brooks at least acknowledges the way that they have let their customers down with this series, just read the reviews around the web, I'm not the only one with these problems.

              Comments about PureCadence 3:

When I started running & was told I was an over-pronator, naturally I became part of the motion-control shoe club, & my first pair of shoes weighed like a ton of bricks. I thought I was sentenced to 2 ton shoes until, eventually, I found my way to the Adrenaline GTS line, which I have loved and been devoted to ever since. That is, until...I decided to try my luck with Pure Cadence. Perhaps my arches and stride have strengthened & improved with time, but recently I felt I needed shoes with even less weight, while still providing some measure of control. I knew I still didn't qualify for a neutral shoe, so when I read about the Pure Cadences, it sounded like the perfect solution. I was wary, since the Adrenalines had served me so well & consistently receive high ratings. Based on reviews, the Pure Cadence line didn't seem to rate quite as well. But what doesn't work for one person may work for another, and you never know until you try, so I held my breath & went for the purchase. And I am so glad I did! These shoes feel like they were made for me. Light & airy, with still enough guidance. I had read that a lot of people find the width too narrow, but my feet are on the narrow side as it is, so the fit was ideal for me. For others, however, I can see where it may feel too tight. Considering how light it is, I can still feel great cushioning with every step off. Better yet, I ran my first race (5K) without orthotics for the first time this week & my feet never felt better! I felt like I was running on clouds. Another added benefit is how cool & stylish the colors and design are. I know those are not the priority factors one considers in buying the right shoe, but it sure doesn't hurt! As for durability, I haven't had them long enough to attest to that, so only time will tell. Otherwise, love this shoe & will plan on another pair in the future.
