Additional Information

Every lace and stitch of the all-new Glycerin 12 running shoe goes above and beyond the standards of comfort. This neutral running shoe for men was inspired by the clouds and designed to feel like running in a meadow toward the one you love. Or maybe just out for a post-run pint. New Super DNA provides 20% more cushioning than BioMoGo DNA, while Ideal Pressure Zones in the outsole optimize pressure distribution from heel to forefoot. And the upper? A conformable saddle wraps the foot, while 3D Fit Print creates a custom fit without adding weight. At just 10.9 ounces, the Glycerin 12 is lighter than ever, but full of new technologies to elevate your run.

I have been buying Glycerin shoes for a few years (10 and 11). I typically run between 6-16 miles. I received this model recently and was surprised that the tops my big toes were getting sore at the end of my 8 mile runs. From looking at the fit, it seems like this model (or my particular shoes) are a bit smaller than previous models. Also, I noticed that the material in this model is more rugged, but might make them a bit stiffer (although this does not seem to be a problem).

The new Glycerin 12 design has fallen well below my expectations of Brooks. The width of the heel in this shoe is about 3/4" narrower than any previous Glycerin model. This leads to a lack of support and stability on your heel strike. I wear a 2E and this shoe also feels tighter in the forefoot. I have purchased many Glycerins over the years and have always loved the design, fit, and comfort of them but these shoes are just too uncomfortable to wear. I hope they reference the previous model's design when creating the 13.

    Comments about Glycerin 12:

I burnt out two pairs of 11s. I loved them. I couldn't find anything wrong. The 12s aren't a bad shoe, but they did not deliver what they said they would. They are not as cushioned as the 11s. This was one of the big "improvements" that was supposed to have been made. More cushion. But there's less. The whole shoe feels stiff and unresponsive. I find that when I go out fresh, after taking a day off, the shoes feel really good. But if I put up two or three hard runs in a row, my legs are exhausted. the show is lighter, and is very comfortable to wear. But after a while, it's like the cushioning goes away. It's like the cushion has to recharge. I was disappointed. I usually run around 40 miles per week.
    * as a side note, many have said the shoes are better for heavier runners. I weigh about 150 pounds. Maybe I'm just not heavy enough to really break in the cushion?

    Bring back DNA

      Comments about Glycerin 12:

Brooks, please bring back the DNA gel used in previous Glycerin models. The gel makes a huge difference in 'mushiness' feel while staying comfortable and plush on longer runs. The new Super DNA is just not the same and makes this shoe less desirable than the 9's 10's and 11's....

      Comments about Glycerin 12:

This is a great shoe...feels great, light, responsive and cushioned. However, with little warning, around 280 miles into the shoe, the cushioning went away. The bottoms of my feet felt like I had just ran a hard 24 miler, and felt like they had been hit was a hammer. Never had a shoe that went away that quick. Im 6'2" 185 pound runner. I like the shoe so much Ive ordered another pair...I will just know the life span of this shoe for me is around 250 miles. Be warned, once you feel the usual signs of shoe wear, you may want to get out of them quickly.

Awesome shoe. Provides significant reduction for the shin pain that I tend to experience while running. But it needs more color variety. Black or grey patterns go much better with my physical fitness uniform.
