Women's Ghost 7 Balance, Cushion, Lightweight

$120.00 $78.00

Style #120161

The Ghost 7 is a triple threat of balance, cushion, and lightweight materials. Hitting the sweet spot for millions of runners, this neutral running shoe for women gives you the stuff to kick back for miles on end, or lean in and pick up the pace. We’ve maintained the horseshoe-shaped crash pad, full ground contact, and omega grooves in the forefoot for the super-smooth heel-to-toe transition runners love. We’ve improved the multi-award-winning Ghost by making it smoother and lighter. BioMoGo DNA in the midsole offers adaptive cushioning and responsiveness. Bigger lugs in the forefoot make the Ghost feel more responsive as you run. And the look? More modern while remaining technical, thanks to the Ghost’s signature color-shift chevron and no-sew overlays. The Ghost may scare off the competition, but it’s plenty friendly to your feet.

DNA Midsole

What is it?

Brooks DNA is an innovative and uniquely adaptive cushioning system. By adapting to your specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customized cushioning and adds a spring to your step.

Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to your specific needs – even as they change during the run.

How does it work?

Brooks DNA is made up of a highly viscous non-Newtonian material or more simply put, a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it. Part of the brilliance is that this compound was engineered to perform at the molecular level (picture millions of resilient 'nanosprings').

If you looked at Brooks DNA through a microscope, you'd see that it's made up of individual molecules connected in strands. These strands (which form chains) react to the amount of force placed on the foot, dispersing pressure and providing resiliency. Bottom line of this physics lesson: You get tailored cushioning that reacts to your specific weight, pace, gait, movement and running environment – "made-for-me" cushioning vs. "one size fits all."

And, as with all good technology, we’ve taken it a step further (two steps actually):

  • BioMoGo DNA is DNA technology blended with the BioMoGo midsole to provide adaptive cushioning throughout the midsole vs. just in the heel and forefoot.
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole includes an organic, non-toxic additive that biodegrades the midsole 50 times faster than traditional EVA when it comes into contact with anaerobic landfill microbes (otherwise known as active, enclosed landfills).

  • 30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials (gel or EVA)
  • Twice as much energy return for more pep in your step
  • Great performance no matter your weight or running pace
  • Smoother transition from heel to toe

Segmented Crash Pad

What is it?

The Segmented Crash Pad customizes your foot's lay-down to provide amazing cushion and smooth heel-to-toe transition throughout the run.

How does it work?

We know that a key component of maximizing your run is to provide the smoothest possible heel-to-toe transition. The Segmented Crash Pad is one technology we use to achieve this goal.

Shaped like a caterpillar, the Segmented Crash Pad is a midsole made up of independent, yet fully integrated shock absorbers. As your foot strikes the ground, the segments work together to customize your individual lay down to provide the right amount of cushion and seamless heel-to-toe transition for you – making the most of all that effort you put into each stride.

The Ghost 7 KALEIDOSCOPE is totally different than the other Ghost 7 shoes/colors. PLEASE make these shoes forever, I have never been so comfortable running. I'm training for a marathon and am going to buy another pair now. Bought them on a Thursday, ran a half marathon on that Saturday. Always worn the Ghost but this seriously is the BEST ever.

Don't mistake me: this is a very good shoe. I started training in these a bit less than a month ago, alternating with my old shoes to avoid blisters (an unnecessary precaution since these are a great fit - no chafing or rubbing anywhere, lovely and light).
However: even though I have hardly trained with them yet, the lining around the ankles is already worn through. I have never had that problem on my previous shoe. I cannot believe after 6 or seven shortish (between 5 and 20k) runsthe lining should already be giving way.

This is my first running shoe that does not stand friction. Taking it back to the store tomorrow. A real pity, apart from that, I loved these shoes

        Comments about Ghost 7:

This is my second pair of ghost 7 and I still love them! They work perfectly for my feet - size 8, a little on the wider side but not enough to actually need a wide-sized shoe, average arch. I wore my last pair through rain, snow, and mud, and they held up very well. My old pair (which I've ran over 500 miles in) hardly looks any different from my new pair! I don't have any "cons" - I wouldn't be sticking with them if there were any issues.

I bought up the ghost 7 because the 8 was so disappointing. It threw my foot into pronation and felt completely different than the 7. I hope I can hold out with the 7's I bought and that you scrap the 8 design.

Was a loyal Asics fan, but after spending $150 on the latest gel nimbus wasn't very impressed and after suggestions by friends to try Brooks, don't think I'll be going back to Asics anytime soon. This shoe is super lightweight and provides great arch support. Ran 4 miles with them right out of the box and super comfortable. Love love love!!

                    Comments about Ghost 7:

I'm on my 3rd pair of Ghosts, having run through a pair of Ghost 6 and 2 pairs of Ghost 7. I always love them at first, and I always hate them at the end. The tread under the big toe wears out after about 110 miles, and that's about when I start getting injured too. Now that I've done some research I think this shoe just isn't meant for forefoot strikers.

I feel really sad that it took me this many pairs to realize that this just isn't the shoe for me, I wish the guy at the running store had taken my forefoot strike into account and recommended something more like the Pure Cadence.

I started with the adrenaline and loved it. I tried the transcend and it was too bouncy. I was looking for a shoe for a red, white, and blue, race and found this one. It's not only cut and stylish but also well built and meets my running needs. I have one foot that rolls outward and one that is neutral. (Strange, right?) This shoe keeps me on track. I still prefer the adrenaline but the ghost is a close second.
