The Ghost 7 is a triple threat of balance, cushion, and lightweight materials. Hitting the sweet spot for millions of runners, this neutral running shoe for men gives you the stuff to kick back for miles on end, or lean in and pick up the pace. We’ve maintained the horseshoe-shaped crash pad, full ground contact, and omega grooves in the forefoot for the super-smooth heel-to-toe transition runners love. We’ve improved the multi-award-winning Ghost by making it smoother and lighter. BioMoGo DNA in the midsole offers adaptive cushioning and responsiveness. Bigger lugs in the forefoot make the Ghost feel more responsive as you run. And the look? More modern while remaining technical, thanks to the Ghost’s signature color-shift chevron and no-sew overlays. The Ghost may scare off the competition, but it’s plenty friendly to your feet.

DNA Midsole

What is it?

Brooks DNA is an innovative and uniquely adaptive cushioning system. By adapting to your specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customized cushioning and adds a spring to your step.

Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to your specific needs – even as they change during the run.

How does it work?

Brooks DNA is made up of a highly viscous non-Newtonian material or more simply put, a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it. Part of the brilliance is that this compound was engineered to perform at the molecular level (picture millions of resilient 'nanosprings').

If you looked at Brooks DNA through a microscope, you'd see that it's made up of individual molecules connected in strands. These strands (which form chains) react to the amount of force placed on the foot, dispersing pressure and providing resiliency. Bottom line of this physics lesson: You get tailored cushioning that reacts to your specific weight, pace, gait, movement and running environment – "made-for-me" cushioning vs. "one size fits all."

And, as with all good technology, we’ve taken it a step further (two steps actually):

  • BioMoGo DNA is DNA technology blended with the BioMoGo midsole to provide adaptive cushioning throughout the midsole vs. just in the heel and forefoot.
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole includes an organic, non-toxic additive that biodegrades the midsole 50 times faster than traditional EVA when it comes into contact with anaerobic landfill microbes (otherwise known as active, enclosed landfills).

  • 30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials (gel or EVA)
  • Twice as much energy return for more pep in your step
  • Great performance no matter your weight or running pace
  • Smoother transition from heel to toe

Segmented Crash Pad

What is it?

The Segmented Crash Pad customizes your foot's lay-down to provide amazing cushion and smooth heel-to-toe transition throughout the run.

How does it work?

We know that a key component of maximizing your run is to provide the smoothest possible heel-to-toe transition. The Segmented Crash Pad is one technology we use to achieve this goal.

Shaped like a caterpillar, the Segmented Crash Pad is a midsole made up of independent, yet fully integrated shock absorbers. As your foot strikes the ground, the segments work together to customize your individual lay down to provide the right amount of cushion and seamless heel-to-toe transition for you – making the most of all that effort you put into each stride.

The Ghost has been my go-to shoe since the Ghost 4. I have run many marathons and I have never had a problem with these shoes. The 7's feel lighter and more responsive. My one complaint, as others have said, is they wear vry quickly. Previous versions have all lasted me greater than 500 miles. However, the outside heel is severely worn on the 7's (two different pairs) at less than 300.

I purchased these at the same time as the Ghost 6 and use both for a week alternating days. The third set of days I did 6 miles in the Ghost 6 and then the next day did 6 miles in the Ghost 7. I now have two huge blisters on both feet from the 7s. The blisters are in the middle of my foot opposite the arches. I just cannot use these they are too uncomfortable. I returned them and purchased another set of Ghost 6. Not sure what I will do when all the 6s are sold out. Maybe I will switch to a different brand because I just cannot use the 7s.

Not as comfortable as the Glycerin 11

By Internetpilot

from Florida, USA

About Me Casual/ Recreational

Pros

  • Good Arch Support
  • Lightweight
  • Pronation Control
  • Responsive

Cons

  • Too Stiff
  • Uncomfortable

Best Uses

    Comments about Ghost 7:

Rather disappointed in these when directly compared to the Glycerin 11 shoes. These are very stiff and uncomfortable with very little cushioning in the soles. I returned them and bought two more pairs of Glycerin 11 instead.

      Heel wears out very quickly

        Comments about Ghost 7:

The sole of heel of this shoe wears out exceptionally quickly. The design with having nubs on the heel I think is to blame. I bought a pair in August and sole wore down to the midsole on the heel after only about 100 miles. I now have almost 200 miles on them but they are pretty much shot. I complained to Brooks and to their credit they sent me a complementary pair of shoes but I only have about 50 miles on those and the same thing is happening. I have a pair of another brand with 100 miles on them that I began alternating with my Brooks and barely any wear noticed on the heel on those shoes. I have tried to rebuild the worn areas with Shoe Goo but it doesn't adhere well.
