Additional Information

The light, bouncy, and balanced ride of the Ghost has haunted the dreams of many competitors -- and it's about to get frighteningly good. We've taken the transition from silky to ridiculously smooth by removing the midfoot shank and creating full ground contact from heel to toe. The underfoot gets even more love with a horseshoe Segmented Crash Pad that wraps the heel from medial to lateral sides and articulates the laydown. What does all that mean? Looking as good as it feels, you'll fall in love with this friendly ghost.

We’re not the only people who have fallen in love: Runner’s World® named the Ghost 6 "Editor’s Choice" in the Fall Shoe Guide in their September 2013 issue… the fourth straight Ghost to earn the honor. They called out the new forefoot overlays welded on rather than stitched, but really loved “how fluidly the shoe rolls from heel-strike to toe-off." In short, the Ghost 6 offers "a sweet balance of weight, cushioning, and everyday durability" – and the editors say "The lightest Ghost we've seen leaves nothing out." Can you say "Four-peat"? Spooky good.

I work in a factory so im on my feet all day long... I was wearing Nike air max & my feet constantly hurt...even just wearing them an hour made my feet hurt. So I decided to try out Brooks & man I'm soooo happy I did! As soon as I put on these shoes, it was immediate comfort...I have been wearing them about two weeks now and I am not one bit disappointed. My feet never hurt and I'm on concrete standing about 10 hours a day for about 60 hours a week. BUY THESE SHOES!!!

I have a Brooks Pure Flow pair that needed to be retired after 8 months with average of 20-30 miles/week (I know, much too long) I will exclaim from a mountain that I LOVE my Pure Flow. Best. Shoe. Ever (for my feet!)So excitedly, I went to a small, independent running store that claims to specialize in finding the right shoe for your foot.

Sadly, they were out of my size in the Pure Flow (both the old and new models) I asked if it was possible to order a pair, and he seemed hesitant and suggested I give some other models a try because they were almost the same. I told him I'd probably need to go to a different store then because my heart was set on the Pure Flow. Why change to something new, when what you have works so perfectly? Well, the associate strongly urged me to try the Ghost, saying I'd find them to be very similar to the Pure Flow, possibly even better for my needs. Since I had the time, and knew these guys know their stuff, I decided, "What they hey? Why not!" So he sized and fitted me, saying that the Ghost would be a great, neutral, lightweight shoe for my very narrow feet. I couldn't run in them at the store, but he let me walk around, and they felt okay-ish. He, of course, suggested I test them on a treadmill before the road in case I needed to return them. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a treadmill so I wore them around the house for several days and finally decided to just go run with them.

Well, that was a huge mistake on my part, as these are the worst pair of running shoes I've owned :( I know they are probably great for many runners, don't get me wrong, but not suited for my feet in the least. I did 5.5 miles on Tues and noticed many issues but thought I'd give them several chances because I knew I'm used to the Pure Flow and it'd take time to adjust. Then did 5 miles on Wednesday, took Thursday off, and ran 3.5 miles today. I just cannot run in these without pain and here's why:

1. They are too wide in the toe box, which causes my feet to slip and slide and I have several blisters after just 3 normal runs. The store associate said they were for narrow feet, but I disagree. Tightening the laces doesn't help much because then the tops of my feet ache mid-run, and they still slide too much in the toe box and cause more blistering.

2. Furthermore, I do not find these to be neutral. I feel like they are somewhat more stability for pronation because I feel like there is too much thick sole on the inside of the foot which causes me to push out towards the outside with each strike (I don't naturally pronate at all) It's difficult to explain, but I definitely feel like my feet pronate out more now. There also isn't enough cushioning on the outside of the foot for it to counterbalance and do that, so my foot is now sore on the outside.

3. Additionally, I feel like they are more for a heel striker since there seems to be the most cushioning on the heel, which doesn't benefit me since I'm a mid foot to toe striker. There's more heel cushioning than there is in the ball of the foot.

4. Lastly, compared to my Pure Flow pair, these feel quite clunky, heavy and hot on my feet. I know this is a subjective statement, but I feel slower and like I'm dragging much more than I do in my delightful Pure Flow. The Pure Flow's were so light and fast-feeling.

In conclusion, I really, really, REALLY wish I wouldn't have trusted the sales person in his assessment that the Ghost are nearly the exact shoe as the Pure Flow. I feel slightly "taken" because I suspect (but could be wrong, of course) that he knew he wouldn't get my sale if I went to another store that had my size in the Pure Flow. Or maybe he merely didn't want to bother with special ordering them, because he kept pressuring me into loving the Ghost right then and there.

Overall, I completely regret this purchase and now unfortunately am stuck wearing them for at least 4-5 months because they're obviously not returnable after street runs. Plus they're too expensive for me to already afford a replacement. I'm somewhat heartbroken that my beloved Pure Flow are now retired for this new Ghost.
I hope this isn't offensive to anyone who loves this shoe. I really, really WANT to love this shoe. I love my other Brooks, and was SO excited to try the Ghost after the sales person's glowing review about it. I just feel like they are not exactly what they were described to me as: not lightweight, not neutral, and not for narrow feet. I'd recommend these for walkers, especially since they have so much heel cushioning, or for runners who love the feel of support, over pronate or have wide feet.

    Comments about Ghost 6:

I have recently been diagnosed with Exertional Compartment syndrome, due to having very high arches. These shoes lessens the pain I feel due to the high arch support and I am grateful to have found these shoes. They are very comfortable, strong, but still light. I'm considering buying another pair!

    Comments about Ghost 6:

Well I first purchased these running shoes because I went to a store and tried the Ghost 7 on and they felt amazing. Saw the Chost6 on sale online and bought them. I am a usual running, running over the past month on more treadmill surfaces about 3-4 miles. At first these shoes were very comfortable, then I noticed that the right shoe started to feel tight around the arch. I thought I just needed to get more comfortable with the shoes, so I kept trying them. I have recently started to develop plantar fascia in the R foot and I don't think these are the right shoes for me. I thought I would be able to run them out to get comfortable, but I think they are making my symptoms worse with the right foot most uncomfortable.
I previous went to a running store and was analyzed and was told that I needed a neutral support for my feet. That is what I ordered, but I am no so pleased with these shoes. For some reason they just aren't comfortable.
I have only worn them on the treadmill and in the gym, so they are not worn out doors.

I'm training for my first marathon and this was my first time in a brooks shoe. I've been a Nike believer all through my college years, and I'm SO glad to have found this shoe. It's super comfortable (out of the box), cushioned well for a lot of road miles, yet lightweight.
