I just happened to find this shoe on the Brooks website after trying nearly every other Brooks running shoe. I have nerve pain and bunions and found this shoe fit my wide forefoot yet it's still snug and comfortable around my narrow heel.
Altho the shoe insert is very cushioned and comfortable, I couldn't use it since it took up too much room when I put in my custom orthotics. I found replacing it with a flat Spenco insert gave me even more toe room, yet I still have great cushion and can use my orthotic with no problems.
Another plus: the two center lace holes (arch side only) have an elastic band which I think is a great design detail. I find it creates a snug fit around my instep yet it doesn't bind across the top of my foot. Also, love the cushioned tongue!

Compared to the Ghost 6, which I wore the past year, the Dyad fits better around the bunion area, has more toe room (once original shoe insert is removed) and it has a nice lining behind the mesh in the forefoot area. The Ghost appears to have no lining and my bunion areas would gradually become sore from the rough mesh..... ie: forget wearing thin socks with the Ghost!

The Dyad 7 is a stiffer shoe and doesn't have the flex that the Ghost has, but for my foot that's a plus. With arthritis, nerve problems and a bunion, I've learned that too much movement is not a good thing.

For Brooks: I still love their shoes but I've been unhappy that they don't make many of the shoes in a D width. The Trance was my favorite shoe, then they stopped making it in a 'D'. Thank goodness the Dyad 7 comes in wide sizes!

Love this shoe but am so baffled by the fact that there are absolutely no fun color schemes for women who have big & wide feet. Such a bummer. At a 10.5 Wide, I'm really tired of boring &, in most cases, ugly colors. :( How about some fun, bright Newton-like colors???? If it weren't for the lacking colors I would have rated the shoe 5 stars.

Comments about Dyad 7:

use only for my daily walks for only an hour a day so was very disappointed when a hole appeared in toe area after 6 months. But...these shoes have helped with a bad knee I am convinced. Will use duct tape for the toes when I get another pair but for this price I shouldn't have to replace so soon.

Flat footed and overweight? Get Dyads!

Comments about Dyad 7:

I am overweight and flat-footed, so running has never really seemed like an option to lose the pounds. I have tried running before, but could only get so far before my arches and calves would be so sore, I couldn't even walk! I'd give up every time, and the vicious cycle continued. The Dyad is the first shoe that gave me arch support AND was comfortable (it's like walking on a cloud). This sneaker allows me to do the work, and for longer periods of time. My only complaint is that the colors are terrible and could use a little spicing up!

    Comments about Dyad 7:

Finally, 12 WW in Brooks shoes! I've had to wear men's shoes until now because of the size of my feet, which made my feet lean outward. These shoes fit perfectly and help me walk correctly. Please make more neutral size 12 WW shoes! Thank you.
