Additional Information

Born and raised to run the trail, the Cascadia 9 loves to get down and gritty. Tackle tricky terrain with 4-point pivot posts that balance like an SUV's independent suspension system and protect those paws with the ballistic rock shield underfoot. No-sew construction brings comfort sans weight and a BioMoGo DNA midsole adapts cushioning to not only your feet, but also the surfaces of adventure. Enhancements like a slightly lowered heel and flat laces equip this next generation Cascadia for the call of the wild.

We’re not the only people wild about the Cascadia 9. Runner’s World Magazine named the shoe “Editor’s Choice” in their April 2014 issue. The editors called the Cascadia “a workhorse”, noting that “it provides a supportive yet flexible ride on diverse trail surfaces and is great for running on snowy pavement.” Oh, and they also noted that the Cascadia 9 “looks as good with jeans as it does on singletrack trails.” Aw, shucks.

Please note: The Cascadia is designed as a trail running shoe. While a lot of people love it as a fastpacking and thru-hiking shoe while carrying ultralight gear; the Cascadia is not pack-rated and may not hold up to the extra weight and demands of long pack hikes. We’re your go-to option for trail runs, but a sturdy hiking boot may be better suited for heavy packs.

I love Cascadia. I have had 2 pair of Cascadia 7. Tried on the 8, they were too wide for my narrowish feet, not enough support either. I run Mtn. biking trails lots of hills. I need lots of support. I was worried a little that these 9's weren't going to support my feet. No worry...they are my favorite shoe so far and I have been running the trails for several years now. I just lace them up tight and I have all the support I need, plus they are light weight. I also like the fact that the heel is lower, no more stress on my hamstring's as before. I also run on cement trails occasionally when it's too wet, they are great for that too.

I have the glycerin and the pure cadence. I ordered the cascade because I wanted a trail shoe. I was unable to find it in a store to try it. It was too loose at my arch so felt like there was no support for my low arch. My big toe was hitting right on the edge of the bottom and side of shoe when i ran. It did not feel like enough cushioning in the forefoot. I did not get to try it on a trail since I could only run on a treadmill with them to be able to return if I did not like them. I did not think it would protect the ball of my foot from the rocks very well. I am still looking for a trail shoe. I am an avid runner and have been running for many years so I know pretty quickly if a shoe will work for me or not.

      Comments about Cascadia 9:

I bought these looking for something a little more substantial than the pure grit trail shoes. I ordered the same size I normally wear in the pure grits and I found them to be at least a full size too big, at least for me. I am sending them back because I am unable to wear them.

      Comments about Cascadia 9:

I have had several pairs of Cascadia's and have always loved them. I have worn them for Ultras and not had to change shoes mid way.
However since buying some Cascadia 9's a few months ago, I have experienced problems with blisters on the side of my foot at the base of my big toe. None of my road shoes (or other trail shoes) have caused ths problem, so I can only assume it is this shoe. Have they narrowed the toe box on this model?
I wish whatever they did with it, they would undo. I liked them the way they were..

        Comments about Cascadia 9:

This is my third pair of Cascadias- previous versions were the originals and the Cascadia 4. This is by far the best pair. I reserve them for trail use exclusively, for road use I prefer the Launch or Ghost. I recently tested them out on a 19 mile jaunt through the Enchantments in Washington State- several thousand feet of elevation gain and loss, a steep scramble and rock-hopping on talus, running across glacier-polished granite, and rocky, root bound dusty trail. The traction is clearly improved over previous versions, and although the toe box feels wide to begin with, after 7 hours, my toes appreciated the breathing space. These are a bit stiff, true, but again, after being on my feet for so long, that eventually became a big plus. Cushioning is adequate and allows for decent trail feel underfoot. The loops on the tongue keep it from sliding around, and the shoe accommodates supportive insoles well. Overall, a solid choice for long days and many miles.

          Comments about Cascadia 9:

This is my second pair of Brooks and, while the older pair was okay, these are great. They are lightweight and super comfortable. They've been perfect for my daily outdoor workouts, which include a combination of road running, trails, hills, etc. - this made versatility, traction and water resistance important to me.

They've been comfortable since day 1, and I'm a couple months in now. While I wouldn't go splashing around in puddles intentionally, they do an excellent job of keeping my feet dry in damp/lightly wet conditions. They are indeed water resistant, yet also manage to stay breezy. Usually wouldn't pick a bright magenta shoe, but these sounded perfect (and they are) and I've really embraced the loud look of them.

I wear a 9.5/10 in regular shoes and had 10.5 Brooks in the past, so I went with 10.5 in these. I think they are slightly longer than my other Brooks. Hope this is helpful.
