Excellent Shoe

I only trail run, very technical single track this shoe has great stability. Toe box is spacious but not loose. Have Cascadia 12 which I do not like, very happy the sales person put me in this shoe as I was a bit discouraged after having purchased Cascadia's and never running them after 2 painful outings.

If you want cushion, this is your shoe.

I don't feel the rocks with this shoe though the cushioning actually makes the run a little more tiring; maybe this is not a bad thing for a training shoe.

Caldera, the only Trail Shoe

Best shoes I have ever worn! Usually in Altra's, but the 4mm lift and the incredible traction in the trails have sold me. Caldera is the newest up to date trail shoe available. Feels like a high bread, yet grabs the trails like ice tires in a storm.

Great Shoe

I am coming from mountain biking and some hiking and wanted to try trail running, I like how they fit snug, I have never owned a pair of trail running shoes only hiking shoes which I ran in. At first I thought they were too narrow at the bridge of foot but once you start running it seems fine.

Sadly Brooks Changed the Shoe...

I purchased the Caldera 1 and was really happy with the last and slightly more room in the toe box. I reviewed them very positively and had hoped Brooks would not modify this last and stay consistent. I buy multiple pairs of sneakers when they fit so I am somewhat guaranteed of no surprises. Unfortunately reviewers of the Caldera 2 mentioned it was indeed changed and narrower. I visited my…

I visited my retailer to try them on and purchase but shocked at how they no longer fit and were too snug right out of the box. I was able to find one of the last pairs of the Caldera 1 and just ordered them. The 2's just won't work for me anymore. A great shoe otherwise if they are a good fit for you. I just am disappointed Brooks saw fit to change what many had reviewed quite favorably. Read More

Hi! Can you give me a quick comparison between the Caldera and the Cascadia? Stiffness, cushioning, fit, tread pattern, intended trail conditions? Which would be better for occasional hiking in addition to trail running? Thanks!

Hi Rob! The Caldera is a super cushioned shoe whereas the Cascadia is a moderate cushioning shoe! The stiffness is about the…

Hi Rob! The Caldera is a super cushioned shoe whereas the Cascadia is a moderate cushioning shoe! The stiffness is about the same, as well as the fit! The Cascadia has a little more aggressive tread so it will be better on more technical trails! Brooks Running Read More

What are the differences/improvements to the Caldera 2 from the first generation model. I loved the low drop and cushioning in the shoe of the first generation model but I felt it to be unstable and prone to turning my ankle in it compared to the tried and true Cascadia--which is a little stiff for my liking on longer runs. Thanks!
