These are great trail shoes. Excellent traction, great protection for your foot due to the plate. I definitely suggest these if running trail.

Purchased the ASR 9 for an ultramarathon trail run last year and was completely satisfied. Unlike some others models of Brooks footwear, the ASR 10 seems to improve upon the its predecessor. Lightweight, good traction, good responsiveness, you name it. I'll probably buy a few more pairs just in case!

For The North Face Endurance Half Marathon in Marin Headlands of CA, I enjoyed running in the Brooks ASR 10's better than running in the same trails in my New Balance 860v3 two weeks earlier.

Both are excellent shoes. I'll wear the New Balance on the road. I barely felt the rocks in fire roads of the Headlands in the Brooks shoes and my socks were freer from dirt and pebbles afterwards.

I just completed Tough Mudder this weekend wearing these and wow what a difference. I've always wanted a shoe that no matter where I went it can handle, and this shoe does just that. Mud, water, grass, off trail etc. this shoe handles it all. Will need another pair when these wear out.

I work on my feet all day and find that if I am not wearing a Brooks product, then I will feel pain starting in my feet and up my lower body to my back before the end of the day.

These shoes fit the moment I put them on. Very light for the type of shoe. Very responsive, but enough cushioning that you do not feel every rock. Great for trails or on the road.

I have settled into these shoes as my go-to trail shoe for a variety of reasons. In general, they work great for my needs. The colors keep changing, which helps me to sort out which is my current pair(s), but other than that I have not noticed many substantive changes over the years which makes it easy to choose.
