DNA Midsole

What is it?

Brooks DNA is an innovative and uniquely adaptive cushioning system. By adapting to your specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customized cushioning and adds a spring to your step.

Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to your specific needs – even as they change during the run.

How does it work?

Brooks DNA is made up of a highly viscous non-Newtonian material or more simply put, a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it. Part of the brilliance is that this compound was engineered to perform at the molecular level (picture millions of resilient 'nanosprings').

If you looked at Brooks DNA through a microscope, you'd see that it's made up of individual molecules connected in strands. These strands (which form chains) react to the amount of force placed on the foot, dispersing pressure and providing resiliency. Bottom line of this physics lesson: You get tailored cushioning that reacts to your specific weight, pace, gait, movement and running environment – "made-for-me" cushioning vs. "one size fits all."

And, as with all good technology, we’ve taken it a step further (two steps actually):

  • BioMoGo DNA is DNA technology blended with the BioMoGo midsole to provide adaptive cushioning throughout the midsole vs. just in the heel and forefoot.
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole includes an organic, non-toxic additive that biodegrades the midsole 50 times faster than traditional EVA when it comes into contact with anaerobic landfill microbes (otherwise known as active, enclosed landfills).

  • 30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials (gel or EVA)
  • Twice as much energy return for more pep in your step
  • Great performance no matter your weight or running pace
  • Smoother transition from heel to toe

Segmented Crash Pad

What is it?

The Segmented Crash Pad customizes your foot's lay-down to provide amazing cushion and smooth heel-to-toe transition throughout the run.

How does it work?

We know that a key component of maximizing your run is to provide the smoothest possible heel-to-toe transition. The Segmented Crash Pad is one technology we use to achieve this goal.

Shaped like a caterpillar, the Segmented Crash Pad is a midsole made up of independent, yet fully integrated shock absorbers. As your foot strikes the ground, the segments work together to customize your individual lay down to provide the right amount of cushion and seamless heel-to-toe transition for you – making the most of all that effort you put into each stride.

    Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

I like these shoes but the sizing -- even from one pair to another -- is problematic. I've been wearing the Adrenaline 14s. Bought a pair of 8.5 15s last week and put in some good runs with them. Went to buy a second pair of 15s and they didn't fit. I tried on 3 pairs of 8.5s and they all put pressure on my right big toe (too short and too narrow at the toe). I even put on my own in the shop to compare, and they still fit fine -- plenty roomy. The salesman (this was a specialty store) was great and tried a number of combinations, so I ended up in a pair of 9 wides. So now I have a pair of 8.5 regulars and 9 wides in the same shoe. I've never had such a problem with sizes before.

    Brooks is just better

      Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

I bought these to begin my umpteenth jogging/running program for use on the treadmill during this winter. I have a difficult left foot and arch, muscle and tendon issues to work with but Brooks has always served me well in the past. Whenever I stray from Brooks I regret it. At first these felt way too stiff, heavy and the heel area felt too loose. I found a better way to lace it which is helping. I would have given this model 5 stars if the heel hadn't been quite so loose and the cushioning had been just a bit more substantial. I've been wearing them on the treadmill for a few weeks now and my feet are getting more used to the shoes and the jogging. Brooks is best for my feet - no doubt about it. I would like to find something just a bit more cushioning however. I would highly recommend these shoes if the shoe advisor recommends it for your feet. And of course the color combination looks great! =)

        Bloodshed for Freedom

              Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

The Adrenaline has been my "Go To Shoe" since the 5th edition and I have maneuvered through the changes with relative ease. Yes, some editions felt better than others but overall, I always found comfort in them and never had a problem. On one occasion, I received a new pair on a Tuesday, ran a couple miles in them on Wednesday and then proceeded to run a 50k on Saturday without a single sore, blister, or structural problem. After that, I swore I would never find a better shoe. However, last week I received my special edition Freedoms and took them for a 10 mile jaunt right out of the box. Around mile 5 I felt some friction on the upper medial portion of my bunion. This friction only worsened through the rest of my run and by the end I had a sore bleeding enough that it was noticeable on the outside of my shoe. I haven't worn them again. I intend to give them a second chance, but for right now I am disappointed by this potential "break in" period.
