DNA Midsole

What is it?

Brooks DNA is an innovative and uniquely adaptive cushioning system. By adapting to your specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customized cushioning and adds a spring to your step.

Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to your specific needs – even as they change during the run.

How does it work?

Brooks DNA is made up of a highly viscous non-Newtonian material or more simply put, a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it. Part of the brilliance is that this compound was engineered to perform at the molecular level (picture millions of resilient 'nanosprings').

If you looked at Brooks DNA through a microscope, you'd see that it's made up of individual molecules connected in strands. These strands (which form chains) react to the amount of force placed on the foot, dispersing pressure and providing resiliency. Bottom line of this physics lesson: You get tailored cushioning that reacts to your specific weight, pace, gait, movement and running environment – "made-for-me" cushioning vs. "one size fits all."

And, as with all good technology, we’ve taken it a step further (two steps actually):

  • BioMoGo DNA is DNA technology blended with the BioMoGo midsole to provide adaptive cushioning throughout the midsole vs. just in the heel and forefoot.
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole includes an organic, non-toxic additive that biodegrades the midsole 50 times faster than traditional EVA when it comes into contact with anaerobic landfill microbes (otherwise known as active, enclosed landfills).

  • 30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials (gel or EVA)
  • Twice as much energy return for more pep in your step
  • Great performance no matter your weight or running pace
  • Smoother transition from heel to toe

Segmented Crash Pad

What is it?

The Segmented Crash Pad customizes your foot's lay-down to provide amazing cushion and smooth heel-to-toe transition throughout the run.

How does it work?

We know that a key component of maximizing your run is to provide the smoothest possible heel-to-toe transition. The Segmented Crash Pad is one technology we use to achieve this goal.

Shaped like a caterpillar, the Segmented Crash Pad is a midsole made up of independent, yet fully integrated shock absorbers. As your foot strikes the ground, the segments work together to customize your individual lay down to provide the right amount of cushion and seamless heel-to-toe transition for you – making the most of all that effort you put into each stride.

I've run in the Adrenalines since version 12. These and the 13s have been my favorites.

I've got about 80 miles on my 15s. These seemed to require a longer than usual break in period. At first they felt more stiff and firm than usual. Now they feel great and show zero signs of wear. I expect to get more miles out of this pair than any previous version. They feel the most stable so far too.

I don't notice a difference with the new crash pad. The adrenalines always felt smooth to me and the 15s do too. I've done a few long runs (10-12 miles) in these and the cushioning held up great.

I've always worn the same size in the Adrenalines and they fit me perfectly. As others have mentioned this version is a little shorter. Still has the same width in the forefoot, but is a TINY bit shorter. Hasn't been an issue for me, although I do wish they fit the same as before. Other than that, the shoe is fantastic. Best stability shoe on the market!

I'm a 15-20mile a week runner and have been buying Adrenaline GTS since rev 8. I love these shoes to the point that I was able to just buy 2 pairs at a time online without worrying about fit or quality.

Unfortunately the fit on GTS 15 has been altered. The toe box has been tapered such that it crowds my foot to the point that I'm sore after 1-2 miles. Also the shoe is very stiff. Out of the 10-12 pairs of GTSs I've owned, I've never had a worse out of the box feel. And because of the toe box problem, I can't wear them long enough to see if they'll even break in.

Maybe this is still a good shoe for a first time user. But for someone who was used to a consistent fit across generations, the shoe is not usable. I even went to the shoe store and tried a couple different pairs in various sizes. If I go up a half size the shoe is too loose in the heel. If I try another pair of same size the narrow toe box is still there.

I'm not sure where to turn at this point. I'm hoping to find enough pairs of 14s online to tie me over until I can find a new shoe that works.

  • Comfortable

Cons

  • Tread Design Issues

    Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

Overall I'm very happy with them. My only complaint is with with the tread design. The small, narrow tread pattern makes it very good at picking up small gravel. I run on mostly rural roads and I have to pick stones out of my shoes after every run.

Roomy Runners (too roomy?) - Good Support

      Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

Bought shoes 1/2 size larger than my regular size and this proved to be just right. I can feel the stability in these shoes when I run (I have very flat feet). The size and width are fine, but there is more room in the fore foot than I need. I added a gel insert (kept the Books liner as well) and this seemed to make the shoe fit more snugly. I bet this shoe would handle orthotics pretty well... so far, I like them, but it has only been a few weeks.

        Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

I'm a bigger runner (225+ lbs) and I run about two or three 1/2 marathons a year, as well as two or three 5k or 10k races. Weekly mileage is 15-20 when I'm training for a 1/2 marathon, which I'm doing with these Brooks.

I'm coming from using the New Balance 1080 (have used versions 3 and 4). They were great shoes with excellent cushioning but I wanted to try a shoe that was a little more stiff and responsive. After reading reviews and at the recommendation of some running friends, I chose the Adrenaline 15.

After three runs of about 3 miles each, I'm very happy with the shoe. I normally wear a men's 11.5 with 2E width and the Adrenaline felt true to size. These shoes are definitely more responsive. Not as much cushioning as my 1080's but that's not a good thing. It feels like I'm returning more energy with each step. I feel faster, although since I haven't run in a month or so, I won't be able to compare my time to my historical peak training times.

        Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

I've bought GTS Adrenaline shoes many times for many years because they are offered in narrow sizes, fit me well, and are very good quality. I also buy Asics GT 2000s for the same reasons. I have a slight preference for Brooks because they offer a little better support and fit a little better than the Asics. These 15 series Adrenalines feel a bit stiffer and harder than past Adrenalines that I remember. I prefer the more generous cushioning of older Adrenalines. I do like the soles of these 15 series though. They look like they'll have much better traction in snow and dirt. The jury is out on how long they'll last. I'm a size 13 B and these shoes are slightly short compared to other brands, but no shorter than past Adrenalines.

          Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

I have been wearing this brand for a few years. Switched from Asics GT to Brooks GTS14 about 3 years ago. Tried the GTS15 and required a half size larger as they felt more narrow and length was tight. I put about 30 miles on them and they are so much more slim. Major blisters on one foot. I have to wrap one side of my foot to even wear these for any long distance. I'm training for a marathon in a couple months so now I am looking for a new brand. I can only wear the GTS15 for a short 3-5 mile run. Searching on line for GTS14's.
