DNA Midsole

What is it?

Brooks DNA is an innovative and uniquely adaptive cushioning system. By adapting to your specific weight, pace, gait and running surface, DNA offers customized cushioning and adds a spring to your step.

Traditional cushioning takes a one-size-fits-all approach, but we know that each runner is different. Brooks DNA was developed to continuously tailor the level of cushioning to your specific needs – even as they change during the run.

How does it work?

Brooks DNA is made up of a highly viscous non-Newtonian material or more simply put, a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it. Part of the brilliance is that this compound was engineered to perform at the molecular level (picture millions of resilient 'nanosprings').

If you looked at Brooks DNA through a microscope, you'd see that it's made up of individual molecules connected in strands. These strands (which form chains) react to the amount of force placed on the foot, dispersing pressure and providing resiliency. Bottom line of this physics lesson: You get tailored cushioning that reacts to your specific weight, pace, gait, movement and running environment – "made-for-me" cushioning vs. "one size fits all."

And, as with all good technology, we’ve taken it a step further (two steps actually):

  • BioMoGo DNA is DNA technology blended with the BioMoGo midsole to provide adaptive cushioning throughout the midsole vs. just in the heel and forefoot.
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole includes an organic, non-toxic additive that biodegrades the midsole 50 times faster than traditional EVA when it comes into contact with anaerobic landfill microbes (otherwise known as active, enclosed landfills).

  • 30% more cushioning than standard midsole materials (gel or EVA)
  • Twice as much energy return for more pep in your step
  • Great performance no matter your weight or running pace
  • Smoother transition from heel to toe

Segmented Crash Pad

What is it?

The Segmented Crash Pad customizes your foot's lay-down to provide amazing cushion and smooth heel-to-toe transition throughout the run.

How does it work?

We know that a key component of maximizing your run is to provide the smoothest possible heel-to-toe transition. The Segmented Crash Pad is one technology we use to achieve this goal.

Shaped like a caterpillar, the Segmented Crash Pad is a midsole made up of independent, yet fully integrated shock absorbers. As your foot strikes the ground, the segments work together to customize your individual lay down to provide the right amount of cushion and seamless heel-to-toe transition for you – making the most of all that effort you put into each stride.

      Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

I really like this shoe. I have not tried Brooks shoes in a while but I thought this shoe looked like it could help with my pronation issues. It sure did. I have close to 100 miles on them and bought another pair I liked it so much. The fit is spot on and just right for me. Great toe off and one can really pick up speed if it is needed. The special edition NYC Marathon shoe colors and design are awesome.

      Careful -- GTS15 runs smaller than GTS14

        Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

I was very surprised when my GTS15 came that is was noticeably shorter than my GTS14. I've been wearing Brooks running shoes for 10+ years, and have consistently worn the same size. The insole is actually the exact same size, but the toe box is definitely shorter. I've kept the shoes, and they have stretched out a bit -- but if your GTS14's are a little snug then you should definitely try on the GTS15 before buying. In other respects, the shoes seems similar to GTS14. Hope they resize this back for GTS16.

          Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

I've been running in the GTS since the 5th version of the shoe. I'm 145lbs, heel striking, stability needing runner. These shoes are just flat out workhorses. Fast or slow they consistently provide the fit, cushion and stability to get you through short or long runs and high mileage build ups.

I've noticed two things with this update:
          1. The "caterpillar crash pad" along the entire lateral side from heel strike to toe off has provided a much more comfortable ride.
          2. The durability of the outsole seems to be improved as well, not sure if this is a byproduct of the extended caterpillar scrash pads or not?

And another FAVORITE of mine with this shoe: The ORANGE and RED is one of the sweetest colorways I can remember!!

            Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

Most runners have a bit of nostalgia for an old pair of running shoes.. a shoe that they feel was perfect for them. For me it was the GTS 10. After running in the GTS 15's for a few weeks its obvious that this will be the new shoe I talk about for years! I finally feel like a I've found a shoe that fits perfect again!

              Comments about Adrenaline GTS 15:

I've run in the Adrenaline since version 11. I have a pretty narrow foot and only a few shoes have worked out in the past. The B width has worked very well in the past. I've run a couple marathons in the Adrenaline and was excited when the 15 was released. I was disappointed with the fit in that even in a B width, I was quite wide on my foot, causing heel slippage. They also felt heavy and clunky compared to previous versions. Hoping this is fixed with version 16.
