      Comments about Adapt Glove II:

I was really impressed with these when I found them in my local REI store. Loved the idea of a lightweight glove with stowable windproof shell. However, in practice I've been a little disappointed. The issue is that (even with shell deployed) they're surprisingly bad at keeping my fingers warm. I live in the mountains and my runs are frigid for at least Dec through Feb. I end up running with gloves on for ~100 days per year, so believe me, I've experimented with a ton of running gloves. I don't really understand why these are so chilly. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the fabric that allows these to be used with smart-phone touchscreens is highly conductive to heat as well as electricity.

The only other thing to note is that they run a little larger than typical: I normally buy a large (size 9) glove, and found that a medium worked better in these.

          Comments about Adapt Glove II:

These are an incredible improvement on an already great glove. I love the thumb addition to the wind-proof fabric. The glove grips are nice, the material compact but BEST OF ALL is the built in light. Did you see that? A blinking light on top of the mitten so drivers will see you at night. I didn't notice this feature until the glove arrived and I am thrilled!

Great for the cold but ...

          About Me Avid Athlete

          Pros

          • Keeps Hands Warm
          • Wind Resistant

          Cons

          • Windshield Too Loose

          Best Uses

            Comments about Adapt Glove II:

I got the gloves on a day when it was 26 degrees F and the dogs and I promptly went on a one-hour trail run. The windshield seems flimsy but I guess they do the trick because these gloves kept my hands warm. I've got other pairs of running gloves and this is the only pair to keep my hands warm in such cold temperatures. The next day it was 24 degrees and we went for a 90-min run and they kept my hands warm again. So it's great that even though the specs say it's rated for above 40 F they worked well for me in much colder conditions.

The con is that the windshield seem really loose. I have to remind myself to keep my hands in a fist in order to keep the windshield from coming off the fingers. My fingers are skinny so it doesn't fill out the width of the windshield (I'm 5' 9" and 140 lbs). Anyway, I wish the windshield fit tighter in which case it would be perfect.

The LED light seems like a neat idea but I don't see myself using it since I exclusively run in the woods. The "Features" section says, "Detachable LED flashlight on right hand" but I'm looking at my pair right now and it's on the left hand.

(I realize there's the Utopia 3-in-1 but my understanding is that it's really two pairs - gloves and mittens - and I don't want to deal with that.)
