Brooks® Sports' New Ravenna 2 Brings Home Top Industry Award
Brand's Perfectly Tuned Guidance Style, Featuring Anatomical Brooks® DNA, Named Runner's World "Editor’s Choice"
Bothell, Wash. – May 5, 2011
Brooks Sports, Inc. (www.brooksrunning.com) announced today that the Ravenna 2, was crowned "Editor's Choice" by the worldwide authority on running, Runner's World. The brand's updated guidance shoe will be featured in the magazine's 2011 Summer Shoe Guide in the June issue, which hit newsstands on May 3. Designed with mild overpronators in mind, Brooks' Ravenna 2 scored highest out of 20 performance running shoes tested and reviewed by the Runner's World Shoe Lab, wear testers, and editors.
"Credit the shoe's winning combination of a nimble, low-to-the-ground profile and ample cushioning for heel- and midfoot-strikers. Even more impressive is how Brooks now scales the flexibility of this shoe according to gender and size -- making the smaller sizes less rigid in the forefoot than larger ones," stated the Runner's World review of the Ravenna 2, adding that the fast feel belies the amount of corrective support it provides.
Designed for runners seeking mild support and stability, the Ravenna 2 now includes patent-pending Brooks® DNA cushioning technology, which adapts to each step taken, for customized cushioning and energy return. Other key features of the shoe include a 3D adjustable arch saddle, which conforms to the runner's foot for an ideal instep as well as a caterpillar crash pad, which smoothes out the landing zone and encourages an efficient heel strike. Designed for both men and women and offered in two colorways for each, the Ravenna 2 allows runners to find their sweet spot on each and every run.
"This award marks another incredible win for Brooks," said Andre Kriwet, global director of footwear product management for Brooks. "We are continually striving to provide the perfect ride for every stride. This award and the retailer excitement around the Ravenna 2 prove this shoe is resonating with runners."
At retail, the momentum for the Ravenna 2 is growing. Sales of the Ravenna 2 for the first four months of the year are up 106 percent at specialty running accounts over sales of the original Ravenna for the same time period. The Ravenna now joins the Adrenaline™ GTS, Ghost, and Beast®/Ariel, and Glycerin as one of the top five best-selling styles for Brooks.
The Ravenna 2 entered the market in February 2011 with a suggested retail price of $100. For more technical information about the Ravenna 2 and all Brooks performance running footwear, apparel, and accessories, please visit www.brooksrunning.com.
