    Still Prefer Brooks

    2017/02/12 | London |

I have been running in Brooks for many years as was introduced to the Brand by Fleet Feet in Washington D.C in 2003, and ran my first / only Marathon (2005) in Brooks Adrenaline, without even getting a blister. I am not competitive, but I love to run and run everyday (addicted) with my shortest run being a 5K (28Mins). In recent years, I have moved from Adrenaline to the lighter "Pure" range and owned every one but the bottoms wore out quickly, especially on one design. I recently introduced my daughter to Brooks and she bought "Ghost" as a walking shoe and loved the cushioning and is now on her 2nd pair. I decided to tried Ghost and bought the Graffiti. Moving from Pure to Ghost was very rough. They felt/look very clumsy and extremely wide and way too springy for me. I was planning to return them, but decided as Brooks are arguable the most comfortably running shoes to own in the world (I own/have all brands) that I would stick it out. Six months on, I have grown to like them more, but an issue I have with all my Brooks is they tend to roll towards the left especially on uneven surfaces, and this makes them extremely uncomfortable. This was so bad on a Flow pair I own, I had to keep stopping and twisting my feet to right and straight. With Ghost there is a issue but not as bad, however, a bit problematic especially the left shoe over uneven terrain. Traction is a massive issue, slightest hint of moisture on pavement and I feel as I am wearing skates, some designs are worst than others. In terms of speed, these are not designed for racing or getting a PB, they can pound out the miles, stay dry on cold or hot days, yet remain comfortably under foot mile after mile. However, when I tried to go faster/ sprint, I simply failed miserable, these are not responsive. "Pure " is better for speed, and really makes you feel as you are flying. I still prefer Flow. Ghost is Hefty in terms of feel and price tag, but still a nice comfortable shoe

    Yes, I would recommend this!

    Perfect for marathon training

    2016/12/17 | Berkshire |

After trying many different trainers from different brands but never being 100% happy with any of them I am glad to say that I finally found the ones best suited for my needs. These Ghost 9 are extremely comfortable, and perfect for long runs. I would not recommend them for speed training sessions though as they are not very responsive. They are heavy but it doesn't bother me. My first pair lasted a good 500 miles, now I just bought my second pair. I love the design of those trainers too. Well done Brooks, thanks to you I now have happy feet and I can run happy!

    Yes, I would recommend this!
