Burger Blog
12/22/2007 | Mike  Morgan

Well, the day of the burger eating contest has come and gone.  On December 10th, four talented athletes faced of in the squared circle in the Bloomer house living room.  The setting was to eat as many as you could in a half hour.   I am flying back to Nebraska tomorrow, so I am a bit limited for time.  But first I would like to note the following:

a.) McDonald's wasn't exactly happy when I went to order 24 cheeseburgers

b.) Yes, McDonald's cheeseburgers are delicious.  However, the novelty wears off after about four of them.

c.) All four of us are grateful that Clint wasn't able to attend, he would have doubled our total, maybe even tripled it, seriously.

d.) It is a lot harder than it sounds, and a very bad idea.

So here are the results:

1st place: Brian Sell, he consumed 10.5 cheeseburgers, that is  3150 calories, 126 grams of fat, 7875mg of sodium, 346.5 grams of carbohydrate, and 157.5 grams of protien.  He was out hard and then fizzled but hung on for the win.

2nd place: Newbie Fred Joslyn, it was close with 10 burgers and 1 bite.  Totaling  3005 calories, 122 grams of fat, 7600mg of sodium, 335 grams of carbos., and 152 grams of protien.  Trying to make a name for himself, darn near won the thing.

3rd place: Chad "Peek A Boo" Johnson.  He pounded 8.5 cheeseburgers.  He rung up  2550 calories, 102 grams of fat, 6375 mg of sodium, 280.5 grams of carbos., and 127.5 grams of protein, just enough to skip his muscle milk for the night.  I was a little disappointed in Chad's performance.  I have witnessed him pounding 4 double cheeseburgers during an AM store shift.  I thought that he was sandbagging as usual.

And I chomped home in 4th with 8.25 burgers.  2475 calories,  99 grams of fat, 6187.5 mg of sodium, 272.25 grams of carbos. and 123.75 grams of protein.  While I didn't win strait up, I will take the win for body weight to cheeseburger ratio.

Pictures are to follow.

If you eat enough turkey and gravy, maybe someday you can look as ripped and cut as this extreeme freak of nature.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Chasing Glory part 2

Darn it, our blogging company has some janky problems with it, so here is the link to my video.

Chasing Glory
10/20/2007 | Mike  Morgan

Two weeks from now, the Super Bowl of running will be over.  At this exact time, we will be sharing battle stories with each other at the Brooks Post-Race Party.  However, before we get to that point, I thought that I would share my "secret" project with everybody.

I was so jealous of Brian's Chasing Glory video that I called up ol' Matt Taylor and Tessa Olson and had them help me create my own video.  It was kind of expensive, but I had some extra money laying around for my wedding next summer, so I used that to fund this masterpiece.

With the Olympic Trials closing in, the biggest problem I faced was finding time to film this video.  I took a different approach and decided to outsource the work and hire professional actors to play the parts in my movie.

Before I reveal the video, let me share some of the screen play with you.  Basically it starts out with me walking into the Bloomer House looking for some revenge from the run the day before.  In my video, I used an old abandon church instead of the actual Bloomer House because Kevin wouldn't sign the waiver to let me film on location.  After I walk into the ouse, I am greeted by Sheehan who tries to show me his new Halloween costume, which is a meat mask.  Little did he know I was there to do business, so I smoked' him.  My next scene features me winding up my sword and singing into some fire.  I procede on with my mission, stop by the makshift room that used to be a garage where I am met by Kyle who just happened to be there to give me a new sword that he just made, he's crafty with the mettle works.  I take that sword, walk into the living room and dominate the other three stooges of the Bloomer House (Humphrey, Reneau, and Moulton).  Then I walk out.  Nothing too crazy, just a "day in the life" of Mike Morgan.  Oh yea, I forgot to mention that I hired none other than Ronnie James Dio to play my part.  Enjoy, I hope it appears OK.
