My day today 11/30/2007 | Nick Arciniaga
Well, it has been a long month since my last blog and a lot has happened with the myself and the team. However I'm not going to talk about any of that. Instead I'm going to briefly describe my day today.
Today was a pretty normal Friday, woke up at 6:45, hit the snooze twice, then got out of bed at 7:01. Drove over to Bloomer and ran 11 miles from there with the guys. We ran Reverse Twinkler today so we could stop by the track to cheer on Kyle and Sheehan as they did 10x8
After that, went home, ate, showered, and eventually went to work at the Utica store. Same ol' stuff at Utica, Kyle has put up a terrific display of Winter decorations, leaving every other store looking like it is still the middle of summer.
After work, went home to find Morgan had cleaned half of Driftwood for the first time since he moved in, and in the process he threw away the end table that I use every morning(a big brown box). So I immediately searched for a new end table, but there was none to be found
So, we then went for an easy 4 miler in bloomer and when we got back I decided that I would construct a new end table out of 4(four) Brooks Glycerin 5 Shoe Boxes, and let me tell you, it took me about 30 minutes but it looks amazing right now.
And that was my day in a nutshell, had some dinner and watched a movie afterwards, but nothing of note. Bye.
Last Workout 10/28/2007 | Nick Arciniaga
Well, we had our last workout this morning. It went pretty well for everyone, a nice little tuneup before the big day. The team is looking pretty fit. I'm stoked about how big our group is going to be on race day. People are going to be so intimidated by us.
Anyways, we were on the track today, ran 3 by 2 miles. The goal was to hit race pace on the first one, 10 seconds faster on the 2nd, and then another 10 seconds faster on the 3rd. Which for you Non-Mathematicians out there that would be 5 seconds per mile.
So, we take off on the first one, everyone is looking smooth and for sure starting to feel fresh. At least I was. My group was trading off leads about every 1/2 mile, I had the 2nd lead and i was a little slow. Morgan took over and he of course well over-compensated for me being too slow. Then Chad closed us off perfectly on pace.
After a 1/2 mile jog we did our next one, which ended up being 17 seconds faster, but felt much easier. A few of the guys were having a nice conversation pretty much the whole time. Then another 1/2 mile jog and we took off on the 3rd, a little quick through the mile, but again still feeling just as easy if not easier than before.
Then on the last mile Superman Luke comes out of nowhere and declares that he wants to lead the whole last mile. So we let him until Chad felt like taking over, finishing 8 seconds faster than the last one.
Overall it was a very good workout, and one of the first times in about 5 months that I felt fresh, even after the workout. And I'll leave it at that.
