The Wire 2 is a good spike with great traction and a very lightweight build. They are so light that it feels like there's nothing on your feet! These shoes hold my 3200m PR. However, these shoes are not very durable; I used them only for the 3200m from the beginning of indoor to the end of outdoor and they were torn by the end of the outdoor season, so about 10 races. They were all in dry conditions, except for at the state meet where they tore even more because of the moisture. It is a good idea to wear thicker socks with them as well to prevent blisters, something I had minor issues with. Even though it has those flaws, it is still my favorite long-distance spike and I will continue to use it.

The first time I put on these spikes I ran a 15 second PR in the 5k after not coming close to it in four years. First time I ran a 10k in them- minute PR! I love these spikes and would recommend them to distance runners who want to hit it hard in the distance events on the track! However, build into them slowly! They are an extremely fast spike but also an extremely intense spike and if you do to much to quickly in them they will make your calves burn like you didn't know was possible!

The new brooks wire 2 is definitely an upgrade from the previous. The material is quite comfortable and lightweight and the colors of the spike match well. One issue was that it was bigger than the previous model by half a size. Not a big deal when racing, but definitely noticable when walking or doing strides in. Overall great spike, can compete with the other lightweight spikes!

Very light weight shoe with good traction. Cheap materials and construcion. After running only (2) two 5K races the side of the left shoe came apart. Today is the 23rd of September 2012 and I ordered them on the 10th of September 2012. I own other Brooks shoes and have had them for a very long time and have had good experiences with them.

Thanks Brooks for developing a durable light weight spike that destroys the Nike Zoom Victory or the Matumbo. I am a loyal Brooks consumer because of the obvious consistent quality of shoes designed by runners for runners. In the past I was forced to use all Brooks for training and then a lighter option from Nike for racing. Patience definitely prevailed because the Wire 2 is in a class clearly by itself! No more Nike for this elite runner.

Great spike. Used it a couple of times during my xc season. It got used in a couple of track workouts 1 5k race, 5k time trial on the WA state course, and a few track time trials. I wouldn't suggest this spike for cross country, mostly because xc has cement pretty frequently. The 2 xc courses I ran in them had less than 5 meters of cement, But that type of course can be few and far between, also not a lot of support so muddy courses might end badly. But on good firm grass I forget im wearing shoes, they are so light. The durability was a bit of an issue for me, a tear is starting to open up where the upper meets the sole. Though I dont know how the durability is normaly because I got these from my coach, who keeps a large box of tracks spikes, mostly old heavy dull spikes but there were 2 pairs of these that our assistant coach got from a friend. But anyways I got them in july 6 months before they came out so they were a prototype which are only ever size 9 and Im a 10 so i stretched them by putting ziplock bags of water in them and putting them in the freezer. So the durability was probably compromised. But anyways I would recomend these to anyone looking to PR in the 400-10,000 (400 and 800 would be ok for me a lot of people probably would disagree but I like a light, flexible spike instead of sprint spikes)
