Sharing Ideas, Analyzing our Business
Brooks believes that by sharing knowledge and resources, we can advance industry-wide Corporate Responsibility to a greater degree. As a result, we have created and participate in a number of strategic partnerships that promote sustainability in our operations and products. For Example:
We are an active member of the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) Sustainability Working Group (SWG). Consisting of more than 200 outdoor businesses, the SWG was formed by OIA in 2007 to explore the issues of corporate responsibility as related to the outdoor industry. In addition to general group convenings and activities, Brooks employees are members of the SWG's Social Responsibility, Footwear, Chemicals Management, Materials Traceability, and Consumer Packaging subgroups.
In 2007, Brooks became a member of the Conservation Alliance – a group of 185 outdoor industry companies that pool annual membership dues to fund conservation organizations throughout North America.
Brooks is also a member of Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), a nonprofit business association that provides socially responsible business solutions to many of the world's leading corporations. Through advisory services, convenings, and research, BSR works with corporations and concerned stakeholders of all types to create a more just and sustainable global economy.
Taking sustainability to a microscopic level, Brooks is also a member of the Business-NGO Working Group (BizNGO), a collaboration of business and NGO leaders who promote the creation and adoption of safer chemicals and sustainable materials in consumer products. In late 2010, Brooks publicly declared its commitment to BizNGO's Guiding Principles for Chemical Policy, a roadmap that helps reinforce and guide our company's chemical policies and how we implement them.
Most recently Brooks joined the Fair Factories Clearinghouse, a database and collaboration tool that provides brands and retailers with a scalable technology and organizational platform to facilitate non-competitive collaboration to improve working conditions within the supply chain.
In addition to the affiliations listed above, Brooks also works with the following industry organizations:
