Great short for competition and hot day workouts. I'm not a big fan of short running shorts, but these cover everything, which is important. They are great for running, but not really intended for anything other than running. The rear pockets are deep and can hold two gels in each pocket.

I bought these shorts because I wear "short" shorts in the summer heat in South Carolina. I use Clif blocks for food, and they fall out of the pockets. I tried GU Chomps, and they fell out, too. The pockets threfore are worthless for me.

These are my new favorite shorts. The fit is great and they are very light. You almost forget you even have shorts on. I would like to see a version of this short with a boxer brief style liner rather than the typical brief liner, but they are still great.

I live in Miami and I started running in April 2012. when I first started running I used basketball shorts which I learned after my first 5k that they are horrible and weigh a lot (a lot more when sweat soaked) I went to a running specific local store and they showed me a few short which I tried on. I bought a saucony, north face and these brooks ones.
I am now buying 3 pairs of these brooks Hvac shorts since I love them so much! they might be a little short for some people but trust me they are totally worth it!
I am 6' 1" 185lbs and wear size 32 waist jeans and I buy these shorts in L size because I have large thighs and Medium was a bit to restricting for my thighs, there are drawstrings on the shorts so if you need to tighten them up. unlike the other review which I have no idea what they are talking about, but the pockets are great. nothing slips out, deep pockets held closed by velcro.
just remember to air dry and not dry in the dryer!

After using other brands I finally found this short, run with it a marathon and it was simply fantastic. I used yo have some chafing in the crotch after several miles, but It never appeared with these shorts. The pockets are also very useful. Very good finishings.
