I was lazy and didn't have a good running vest for years and it wasn't until I sucked it up and bought this one that I forgot how important they are. Perfect top layer to cut the wind or keep a light rain/mist off you in the early morning runs. Just keeps your core warm without inhibiting arm movement. Front cuts the wind but back breathes easily. Really a key layering element- I wear it all the time now. Ran a little big for me-- I often wear XL in outerwear but bought an L in this and I might even have been able to pull off a M. But that's a small thing, and it is nice to be able to layer under it. I bought the blue, which is good looking. Kinda wish I bought the orange, though!

I'll probably wear it around before and after races and when I cycle.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
Seems like great materials and manufacture, but the sizing is way off. I figured Brooks would have an athletic fit since it's a running company, but this is more of the 'average american' fit. I'm 6' 168lbs and I was swimming in the medium. I'm not even sure the small will cut it. I'll just return it - not for me!

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
Like one of the other reviewers, I delayed buying a running vest for years. I am glad I finally broke down and bought this one. Though just a touch larger than expected, it does the trick on those "in-between" days. The zip pocket will hold my cell phone without it bouncing around while running, something not all outerwear does.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
This is a superb running vest! It does wonders at keeping the core warm but it's still breathable and comfortable. Extremely happy with purchase except for one thing: it runs big. I wear a large in absolutely everything but when I ordered a large in this vest I was swimming in it (I'm 6' 190 lbs). When I went to exchange it they no longer had my first choice in color so had to go with a plan B. I love everything about this vest except that it's a little larger than anticipated.

Love this vest. Works great, especially during these winter months where most of my runs are in the dark.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
I ran with this vest tonight in some decent rainfall. My shirtsleeves were drenched but my core which was covered by the vest, was virtually dry. This vest rocks. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Great for when its not warm and not real cold - "Tweener" for when its just cold enough you need something more than a light sweatshirt, but not a heavy hoodie

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
This vest is great for those windy days when it's a little cooler out. My only issue is that the size runs way too big. I initially ordered a LG (I'm 6'2", 170 pounds), which is the size I order all my Brooks shirts in; however, the vest was too loose fitting. I exchanged it for a Small and it's perfect.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
It would be an outstanding product except that across the chest the fit is a bit tight. If you are thin it won't be a problem, but if you are a little huskier than it will bunch a little at the breast height. It seems that the cut is just straight down, so the tummy is ok but the chest is a little restricted. Surprisingly it does not interfere while you run.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
This vest gives you the ability keep your core warm on a cool morning without the restriction of a traditional jacket. Great pockets inside for your essentials like energy gels and a great pocket for your mp3 with cord management. Since I have to run on the road I love the bright yellow color, people can see you coming.
