I was lazy and didn't have a good running vest for years and it wasn't until I sucked it up and bought this one that I forgot how important they are. Perfect top layer to cut the wind or keep a light rain/mist off you in the early morning runs. Just keeps your core warm without inhibiting arm movement. Front cuts the wind but back breathes easily. Really a key layering element- I wear it all the time now. Ran a little big for me-- I often wear XL in outerwear but bought an L in this and I might even have been able to pull off a M. But that's a small thing, and it is nice to be able to layer under it. I bought the blue, which is good looking. Kinda wish I bought the orange, though!

I'll probably wear it around before and after races and when I cycle.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
This vest is, by far, my most used piece of apparel in the winter months. I team this vest with the Podium long sleeve and pulse gloves. It's not restrictive and has zipper side pockes that act as vents, and are designed to be opened to allow air flow. I can wear this down to 30 degrees as long as the winter winds are not to strong.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
I bought this in the Nightlife version to stay visible to drivers because I do all of my running on the roads. This vest is super bright. I haven't worn it in a steady rain, but it did well on overcast days with a lot of moisture in the air. It keeps me warm even though it is loose fitting. I like to layer this with longsleeve shirts when the temperatures drop into the mid-to-low 40s.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
Bought this in the orange color particularly for hunting season here in the upper Midwest. Didn't have a quality orange vest last year and headed in to the treadmill FAR too early. This vest is just right to do the trick--lightweight enough not to weigh me down as I run/hike/walk, etc., and also bright enough to (hopefully) prevent confusion between me and a deer. I look forward to being able to run outside this fall season without fear of impending death.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
I can't wait for the weather to change so I can run with this vest. Just looking at it and trying it on in the house it seems great. Can't wait to get it out on the road.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
Seems like great materials and manufacture, but the sizing is way off. I figured Brooks would have an athletic fit since it's a running company, but this is more of the 'average american' fit. I'm 6' 168lbs and I was swimming in the medium. I'm not even sure the small will cut it. I'll just return it - not for me!

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
Like one of the other reviewers, I delayed buying a running vest for years. I am glad I finally broke down and bought this one. Though just a touch larger than expected, it does the trick on those "in-between" days. The zip pocket will hold my cell phone without it bouncing around while running, something not all outerwear does.

Comments about Essential Run Vest:
This is a superb running vest! It does wonders at keeping the core warm but it's still breathable and comfortable. Extremely happy with purchase except for one thing: it runs big. I wear a large in absolutely everything but when I ordered a large in this vest I was swimming in it (I'm 6' 190 lbs). When I went to exchange it they no longer had my first choice in color so had to go with a plan B. I love everything about this vest except that it's a little larger than anticipated.

Love this vest. Works great, especially during these winter months where most of my runs are in the dark.
