As a rookie, I started with a Nike shoe, which was quickly replaced by Saucony's Grids. They were ok across the arch, but poor support on the toe roll off, and barely adequate at the heel strike. Was recommended to buy Aasics, which felt ok in the store (high arches), but I literally limped my way running across the finish line in my next race after. Quickly researched further and decided on a Brooks shoe. The Trance 9 is like a miracle shoe to me. Corrects landing errors of underpronators like me, supports the WHOLE foot..arch, toe and heel, reduces muscle pain (including sciatic). GREAT for training and racing. Highly recommend. Can't wait to try the 10 in feb.

This was my second pair of Brooks, and I was really disappointed! I paid half this price for my Axioms, and they're still in great shape, but these fell apart in less than three months!! I wasn't training very hard at the time, either. I'll never spend so much on a pair of Brooks again...I'd be turned off completely if I didn't have a good experience with Brooks prior to this one.

Comments about Trance 9:
I have bunions, and for those of you who have them you know how difficult it could be to find a great running shoe that is comfortable and wide enough because of the bunions. Even though this shoe does not say it runs wide, it feels completely fine and is so lightweight and comfortable. I've tried Asics before but can only run a couple miles before my feet hurt. In the trance 9 I've completed many half and a full marathon without even thinking about my feet. Get them. They are great.

Comments about Trance 9:
My first pair or Brooks were Adrenalines, and after shin issues, I wanted to try something that was still supportive, but a different model, so I got the Trances. They immediately felt more roomy in the toebox compared to the Adrenalines. My toes had ample room to move around. I ran the Nike Women's 1/2 marathon in October in these and the downhills KILLED my toes. Even though they are good fit normally, they didn't do anything to protect my toes from the intense downhills and I ended up losing a toenail. Not sure if this would have been the same in any other shoe, but I'll continue to wear these as they have been great every other time.

Comments about Trance 9:
I love Trance- my first Brooks pair. I had 2 Asics Nimbus (which were expensive by the way) and they felt too small for my feet and they always gave me blisters after 4 miles of running. The rest of the run I had to endure the pain. then I switched to Brooks Trance when I found out they were on sale, with no idea how great they were but only from the reviews (Thanks to those who wrote them up.) I will stick with Trance as I feel sooo comfortable with them. It is like I am walking, and not even running!

Comments about Trance 9:
I use my broken in running shoes to walk the dog and my new ones to run about 6 miles a week on the treadmill. I love these shoes and will continue to buy this style because they have great cushion and are supportive. I wore Adrenaline's for years but I love these.

Comments about Trance 9:
I am a previous Trans 9 owner. It was the best fitting shoe I had ever owned. No breaking-in was necessary. After a few half marathons, it was time for a new pair. I received the new shoes two weeks before my last half marathon. The shoes fit was off, arch felt tooh high.I talked with Brooks rep at San Jose Rock 'n' Roll half Marathon who explauned to me that the arch wasn't really that high -- it was only the inserts and that they would soon flatten out. My feet were the most uncomfortable in this half marathon than ever before. I walk 2 ro 3 times a week. These shoes are still very uncomfortable. My archs feel strange and sometimes hurt.I cannot recommend nor will I buy another pair of these shoes. I am so disappointed.

Comments about Trance 9:
I run alot and I started out with this shoe, then I switched to Adreneline for the next 3 pairs...I just switched back to Trance and I love them more than I did the first time. I need that extra support being an over-pronator. Great shoe!

Comments about Trance 9:
I am a diabetic, and I need a good walking shoe that supports my feet. I have foot pain anyway because of Neuropathy, so I need a good supporting AND cushioning shoe. I put Spenco inserts into these shoes and the combo is the bomb!
