I have owned a ton of shoes in my 30 years of running and these have been the absolute best shoes I have run in. I am a neutral runner averaging about 20-40 miles per week, depending on the event I am training for. I run asphalt, gravel and trails. The Glycerins provide great traction, a good road feel and outstanding cushioning. Some of the hills I run are so steep you are on your toes going up and hanging on for dear life going down. I am amazed at the traction they have, giving me confidence that I won't end up skidding down the trail.
I have been able to increase my pace by well over a minute per mile. Over the past three years I have not been able to do much, if any speed work due to a nueroma I have been dealing with. The Glycerins have changed that, and I am able to slowly get that part back into my work outs without the pain incurred by the nueroma. I truly believe it is due to the increased cushioning the shoe provides. I lowered my last marathon time(Big Sur) by 20 minutes over my last four years.
My last 4 pairs of shoes, all from the same manufacturer always gave me slight discomfort in the knees, and felt like they were not cushioning as well as I needed. Since I have been exclusively running the in the Glycerins that discomfort is gone.
I am definitely buying a second pair and rotating them. For this old marathoner this is an outstanding shoe.

I thought the earlier versions of the Glycerin were about the best running shoes I've ever had. I thought the Glycerin 8s were just about perfect. But to my disappointment, I've discovered that these Glycerin 9s aren't for me. I don't know whether it's been a good move to have the DNA now run the entire length of the midsole. These Glycerin 9s make me feel as if I'm running in dough, and my sense is that they don't give you that little bit of rebound energy you need. Maybe if you're of a larger build and you run mainly on concrete or on roads these shoes will suit you. I wouldn't say they're no good. But I'd just like to warn fans of the earlier Glycerin models not to rush in and get these. They are now quite a different shoe, and they might not necessarily suit you're running style.

Comments about Glycerin 9:
Hi, Might just be me but I have been running in my glycerin 9s for about 3 weeks and I have started to develop heel fasciitis. I am very disappointed...after a 5 year run without problems with a different brand I decided to spend a little extra and try Brooks due to their outstanding repuation. Stores in my area dont sell full line of shoes nor sizes so I usually need to order online. I am going to soldier through with these shoes due to the cost and my limited budget but if pain gets too bad might have to go back the others, as I am training for a few triathlons this summer and dont want to risk further injury

Comments about Glycerin 9:
These are the most comfortable running shoes I've ever owned! I run 12-16 miles per week. After Nike Shox Turbos, Reebok Zigs, and Mizuno Wave Creation 13's, these Glycerin 9's are the best!

Comments about Glycerin 9:
Run five 10K's per week and use custom orthotics to manage foot problems. Best top-end shoe on the market for neutral cushioning and absolute best fit for narrow feet (B-width). I've tried every brand's top-of-the-line shoe in demanding training conditions and these are the best fit, form and function by far. I used to only run on pavement but now I can run on concrete without any noticable difference in impact harshness or injury susceptibility. Ultra firm custom molded orthotics with this shoe's cushioning provides fantastic protection against plantar fasciitis, shin splints and sore knees--I feel bullet proof! Wish the narrow width came in green or at least some other color so I don't have to keep buying red. How 'bout a discount for repeat purchases:)

Comments about Glycerin 9:
Long time purchaser of Brooks shoes. I would not purchase these shoes again. I typically wear neutral shoes and these are by far the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned. I had mine fit at a reputable running store and they just aren't working out for me. I've developed heel pain, arch pain, and pain on the outside bottom o of my right foot less than 2 weeks after starting to run in them. Shoe is too expensive to be having this type of problem.

Comments about Glycerin 9:
I use the Glycerin 9's for daily runs, long runs (15-25 miles), treshold runs, and hills on paved roads, gravel roads, grass, dirt and single track trials. Excellent neutral cushioned trainer that I would recommand to others. Only negative is the outer sole wears through at approximately 240 miles of running.
