This review is about the Glycerin 9 after ten months of running about 6 miles per week and working out weekly.
This is a great line of running shoe that offers high-end comfort, great stride and gate support, flexible light-weight cushion, and trusty durability.
I was a skeptic about Brooks' jargony features, but features like caterpillar crashpad, and the support layer eliminated knee issues I was having before I bought these. My underpronation is no longer an issue. The full length DNA and glove-like, high quality upper really allowed this shoe to conform to my feet. WHEN I RUN, THIS SHOE FEELS SOPHISTICATED, I FEEL QUICK, AND THE PAVEMENT FEELS LIKE CLOUDS. A perfect shoe for my 5K runs. Surprisingly light-weight, supremely comfortable, and worth every penny. If the effective features weren't enough to make this shoe a bargain, it's durability that sends the value of this masterpiece through the roof. I will be purchasing the Glycerin 10 very soon.

This is probably the worst shoe I have ever bought, and the kicker is I bought them specifically to help me. I am an ex college football player who lost quite a bit of weight due to diet change and running after college, however I am still quite a bit bigger than average and have some lingering joint injuries especially in the knees, so I require a durable shoe that has more cushioning than normal. I even bought these shoes at a specialty running shoe place and asked for recommendations as to which to get, they recommended these. Boy, this was a mistake. They were fine for about 2 weeks, then I started getting pain in my forefoot right in the center. It got so bad that I couldn;t run in them anymore, had to go back to using my old ones. I went and took them back to the store a day after buying them a month before and they were apologetic, but couldn't take them back as it had been over a month. They were astonished at the wear and tear on the shoes as well especially since I had only gone running in them around my neighborhood about 15 times total (~40miles in all). They said there it had to do with my specific gait and how these shoes were just not constructed for the way I run. At this point I figured oh well lesson learned, don;t buy these shoes to run in again. But since they are still the most expensive shoes I have ever bought I'll keep them around and just use them for work where I do quite a bit of standing and walking around all day and everything will be fine. Used them at work for a week and the pain became unbearable, even just walking in them. I tried putting in some cushioning inserts, it still didn;t help, I still had the pain in the center of the ball of my foot. So here I am, less than 2 months after buying the most expensive shoes I have ever bought and they put my feet in so much agony that I cannot even wear them. I think I will just go back to buying at an outlet store, as they are half the price and my previous pair lasted over a year, a much better bargain than these shoes.

Thought it was a good idea!

Cons

Best Uses

I bought these to run my average 25 miles a week. I previously had the Ghost 5 which was a nice cushy ride, thinking that the Glycerin would be a step above since the "gel technology" was throughout the majority of the shoe, and the rave reviews I read in a running magazine. I have to admit, the ride is as close to perfect as it gets. The problem is the rest of the shoe isn't holding up. I spent a lot of money on these with the best intentions that I would get every penny worth out of them. Now I have my big toe on each foot sticking through the top of the shoe. They just turned 300 miles old. Unacceptable.

Good running shoe

I was a long time Nike Vomero runner, but they radically changed and so did I. :)

Overall I am happy with the Glycerin 10. They fit well and protect me from the road. I wish the had a bit more toe room (I have a morton toe) and a lot more rubber on the crash pad. These are cushioned shoes for heal strikers, no?

I've never wore down a heal like I did on these. I usually wear thru the forefoot, especial the toe area. These held up well there. They do last longer then my recent Vomeros though.

I just bought my second pair today to replace my wore ones and looking forward to a few hundred good miles in them.

I use these shoes for walking and standing all day during work. They get more comfortable as the day goes on, which is awesome. I've gotten a lot of compliments about the shoes too. The green is flashy but not too flashy color for running shoes.

I am a 5'5" woman who wears men's running shoes because they NEVER make a woman's toe box wide enough. The heel and toe box fits perfect. I wear a women's 7.5 or 8 in heels and a men's 8 in Brooks. You could argue the shoes run small but since I have ordered the Glycerin style before I knew my size. On my wish list is for manufacturers to make comfortable shoes.

I run on treadmills exclusively. I have had a problem with the left shoe fabric on the top of the shoe folding over into the shoe. The right shoe is fine, and now there is a very large something just above the liner in the heel area under the fabric that is sticking out and nearly literally eating my heel alive. The right shoe feels pretty good, but the left shoe is just nasty. It didn't start out that way, and has gotten progressivly worse. I can't run in them anymore, and really can't use them for walking either. Maybe I bought the wrong shoe for my high arches, but the back achilles heel area of the shoe should last longer than 4 months... I can't recommend the shoe due to the QC issue and quick failure of the shoe... I'm stuck using my older pair for the short term...

I have been running about 5K for almost 2 months pretty much everyday. My old shoes started to wear and I needed a new pair. I went to a running store where they would be knowledgeable to what shoes are good for what types of running/sports. I told them I had orthodics and my foot type. They understood what I was talking about and recommended these. I took their advice and bought them. Worst decision ever. They are just over a week old. They are wearing on the bottom outside of the sole. I can barely walk, let alone run. I have had my orthodics modified soooo much that I could not put them in a new shoe to test them because they are compensating for what the shoe is supposed to be doing. I am so utterly disgusted with these shoes and the price I paid for them that I will probably never buy another pair of Brooks and I will probably never go back to that running store again. I have issues with my feet and I know that, but I have not had a shoe start to wear after less than a week of mild running and walking! Don't recommend these at all!!!
