Can you say THREE-peat? Like the Ghost 3 and 4, the Ghost 5 was deemed "Editor’s Choice" in Runner’s World’s Fall 2012 Shoe Guide in the September issue. Runner’s World described the Ghost 5 as "a versatile shoe that can handle whatever workouts you throw at it" and noting that the Ghost "remains fairly lightweight with a soft heel and relatively firm forefoot, which gives wearers a fast feel.” One wear tester said “I didn’t have that 'squishy' feeling I sometimes experience with cushioned shoes." Another said, "The Ghost 5 has excellent cushioning—cement feels like blacktop, blacktop feels like grass, grass feels like clouds! I was able to feel the ground just fine for a strong ride."
We say the Ghost 5 is so supremely smooth and impeccably balanced, it’s scary. We took the best of the award-winning Ghost 3 and 4 designs, built in new innovations, and then merged it all with striking colors and patterns. This shoe hits the sweet spot for a wide range of Neutral runners with a finely crafted Caterpillar Crash Pad and anatomical Brooks DNA.
Love the Ghost but hate running in the rain? The Ghost GTX is also available. Everything you love about the Ghost, but with a waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® membrane to keep your feet dry and comfortable. No more blaming it on the rain!

I switched from a pair of ghost 3 to a pair of gho5t. The most noticeable difference is the upper. THe ghost 5 upper is much lighter and more breathable. I got the yellow, its a good looking shoe. I run very neutral, I can speak to the durability of the 3's but have only put 10 miles on my new 5's. The 3's held up really well, i ran in rain, snow, crushed limestone trails, road, and on treadmills. The shoe still looks new. I hope the 5's are the same way. I usually put 300-400 miles on shoes before I replace them. The 5's have felt light, responsive and comfortable on 3 and 5 mile runs so far. The other noticeable difference with these shoes is the tongue. The 5 has a much more cushioned and "fatter" tongue. I find that I have to tighten the shoes a little more near the ankle to get the same feel with the 5's as I had with the 3's. Overall I am very happy with the purchase. I love these shoes so far. If I find any faults I will be sure to come back and update this. Happy Running.

Wanted a shoe that matched my high arch and the web lead me here. These look great and would highly recommend even though they are a little pricey.

I am still trying to figure out if I like these. After around 30 miles over the last week I am still not used to the cushioning. I came from the NB 1063 and these definitely have a lot more cushioning and you feel much less impact. With that comes a heavier shoe though, which I am also trying to get used to.
If you are looking for a shoe with a lot of cushioning, definitely get these. They are very comfortable, they land very soft, and they offer a lot of support.

These have been impressive on track, trail, road and dirt, which is what I have been training on in Western Pennsylvania. No issues with traction on wet and sometimes muddy surfaces. I under pronate and I am pleased with the Ghost 5.

My only critical thing to say about the Ghost 5 is that it seems us "fat-feeters" are stuck with the blue. When are color options going to be available for the wider shoe style? I will stick with this shoe because I REALLY enjoy them; however, wish I could have an option to go with another color.
