For a man I have got to have the most finicky feet in the world. They are wide with a low arch and nothing seems to fit very well. While struggling one day to find a comfortable shoe, a shop in Phoenix recommended the Beast. That was in 2000 and I have been using them ever since. I go trough a pair about every 6-8 months and I always look for the next best shoe but I haven't found it yet.
When I started running I weighed 305 Lbs, the Beast was THE ONLY SHOE that gave me comfort and support while lasting longer under the pressure. I also have a wide foot and one is longer than the other(Don't Ask) I found the 13 EE works the best. For the cushion and support the little extra weight is negligible. Even though they are made in China their quality control is very good. Unlike other brands I could not find them in the markets of Shangai or Hong Kong and I go there at least 6 time a year, so that is a good sign that Brookes keeps tight control of the product line.
If you are a serious runner who need's the cushion and support or a large person starting out I can vouch for The Beast. I am hard on everything I own and the Beast has passed the tough test with flying colors.

For my feet, the Beast and Addiction were the finest MC shoes available for many years. However, the new pointy-toed shape has rendered these once great shoes worthless to me. It appears to be an industry-wide trend that is all about shaving a few ounces off of the shoes "official weight." The same flat feet which require motion control, also tend to have a wide toe-spread. Will need to look elsewhere. Brooks needs to be wary of forfeiting the genuine "Beast" market to others, while suddenly finding themselves catering to Ballerinas instead of Beasts. I always found Brooks gear to be extremely functional until they jumped onto this crazy, narrow-toed bandwagon.

Comments about Beast:
I love the beast! I have bought 4 pairs thru out the years. I am very disappointed because the netting tears very easy. The last pair didn't even have 3 month and they tore. When I pay [$] for a pair of shoes I wish they would last longer. I probably won't buy again

Comments about Beast:
Too stiff. Too heavy. I bought them because I have high arches and over pronate. The regular size is narrow with unyielding arch support, causing blisters in my arch. The wide is a little wide and still too stiff. These are the only shoes I've run in and injured my heel tendons. My runs are 3-5 miles 2-3 days a week. I went through one narrow pair in a year (calluses fix blistering after a while) and the wide pair in a year, so it wasn't a short time period. Trying the Adrenaline 10's now...

Comments about Beast:
Good points:
1) This shoe fits well, very comfortable.
2) My feet feel close to the ground, very stable feel (in stand-still postition)
Bad points:
1) Very slippery on dry smooth tiles. I think I'll slip and fall if it rains!
2) The price is too high considering the soles lose the cushion effects just after 3-4 months of use.

Comments about Beast:
The brooks beast have been my preferred running shoe for the last 6 years. If you have low arches and constantly over pronate this is the shoe for you. The shoe is usually a little tight when new, but after a few runs it adapts better to my feet. It fixes most of my problems with pronation and lets me run without worries of injuries or back problems.
I don't recommend this shoe for casual wear as it cost around $100 and it wears out fast; you can probably find other cheaper options for walking or wearing around the house.
For serious runners the life expectancy of the shoe is no more than 6 months. By 6 months, the sole is usually gone or the support greatly decreased. I run around 40 to 35 miles a week and would recommend this shoe to any regular runner.

Comments about Beast:
I have searched for many years to find a sports shoe that provides good arch support to my moderately pronated feet. Brooks Beast was the answer. My current pair was wearing out so I went online to order the same shoe. Unfortunately, some of the negative comments forced me to go down to my local store and try them on. The verdict...They have the same high quality and comfort as my original pair.

Comments about Beast:
I only have three comments:
1) The rubber traction things on the bottom of the shoes come off SUPER easy! I used them in marching band, literally one day, along with casual walking. (Havent even started running in them due to crazy school schedule :( )
2) If your sitting, they kinda make my feet go numb. But standing, they are so great!
3) Not great traction on wet aurfaces. I dont slide everywhere or anything, just feels very.....sketchy.

Comments about Beast:
Great shoe to use with my orthotics. Plenty of support for my lazy ankle. I walk 6 km a day. If i didn't have these shoes with my seriously corrective orthotics I'd be out of action.

Comments about Beast:
I use the shoes for walking and general purpose. The insoles are great with lots of cushioning. The shoes wear well. The arch hits in the right place in the shoe which can be a problem. Great company support. Nice colors and good look all around. I tried competitors and they never fit right. The insoles are always cheap. Not so with Brooks Beast. I recommend them to my friends.
