PROS
I like them for long days, gravel, trail and especially when I'm already tired and sore form a previous days workout.
Plush and sturdy. An SUV of a shoe.
I have a flattish foot, moderate heel strike and knee and back issues. The Beast handles these concerns very well.
Initially, I chose them because I was returning to running after over a decade off and felt they might offer a margin of protection from impact and poor technique. However, I can now handle impact and my technique has improved, but I plan to own a pair of Beasts as long as I'm running.
I don't really need pronation control and in some ways it's more shoe than I need and have neutral shoes for shorter days or racing.
After trying a bunch of shoes (on the tread mill) each of 3 times I bought the Beast, my feet, legs and back told me to keep buying them.
They fit well right out of the box and I require no break-in period.
The control and stability helps prevent slips and ankle rolls.
I got over 350 miles out of each pair, which makes me feel they are a GREAT value.
CONS
Heavy, bulky and expensive, but so is an SUV.
I typically wear (and measure on a Brannock scale) a 2E in most other running shoes, but the (my) forefoot volume forced me into the (rare) extra wide 4E on my last two pairs. Not bad, but if you're on the fence, go wider.
On each pair I had to ShoeGoo and clamp the heel strike area sole back onto the underlying padding late in their life. No big deal.
My buddy, who has had over 20 pairs!, complains that they don't hold up well, but he's a big (210lb) heel striking pronator. He scrunches the heel stike area padding in about 250 mi while the rest of the shoe has a lot of life left. It's a bit messy, but to restore cant angle and cushion, we glued in wedges of padding (from old shoes) and he got another 100 miles out of them. He says the "width is true" and he "can't run in any other shoe."
Hope that helps.

I should have known better than to buy a shoe on-line. Unfortunately there are no retailers in the area that keep this in stock. I not able to not try on the shoe and discuss it with a knowledgeable sales person. I ordered the same size shoe as I wore in New Balance. This shoe is extremely tight around the front section of my foot, and does not appear to be stretching out at all. Very uncomfortable, and I will never buy another shoe on-line. I learned my lesson, hopefully no one else will make the same mistake I did.

This is my second pair of Brooks Beasts and let me tell you I will never buy any other shoe for my feet. To give a little description of myself I am 5'9", roughly 210lbs, size 12 4E shoe size and have terribly flat feet. I also have orthotics and they fit great in these shoes. Before finding out about Brooks running shoes I had a terrible time trying to find a shoe that would not only fit my feet comfortably, but also support my feet and also last for more than 2 months. I have tried multiple pairs of new balance, Nike, Adidas, etc and nothing could support my feet or last. I actually found out about the Brooks Beast shoe through my podiatrist who had done a plantar fasciatomy on both of my feet. Ever since I have had this shoe I have actually not only been blown away by the quality and performance of the shoe, I have also seen a positive response by from my feet not getting fatigued so quickly and also having the support and control that I have been searching for. I highly recommend this shoe to anyone looking for a shoe that will not only help support low arches, but will last longer and keep up with all of the everyday demands you require of it. I realize the Beasts are on the high side for price, but trust me you will not find a better shoe for the money and you won't find a shoe that even comes close that is cheaper, the Brooks Beast are worth every penny and more. Keep up the great work Brooks! Love these shoes.

I am overweight and have ,lost 70 pounds by running thanks to the Beast. Has the padding and motion control my legs need so my knees don't hurt.
However, the width on this recent iteration is a joke. I ordered 4E width, and they aren't even as wide as the Dyad or Adrenaline in the same size. Brooks really, really messed up this shoe.

Everything is great about except one major flaw that is mentioned in many reviews in most other running shoe sites...the current version of the Beast is way too narrow in the toe box area. Brooks fix this major flaw and launch a new Beast ASAP!!! I understand that in order to make the shoe look more sleek the toe box became more "pointed" rather than rounded. Do some due diligence homework next time... the vast majority of flat footed people that need motion control need ample space for the toes to spread out. Even buying a size larger does not do the trick. A multi-million dollar mistake... better fix it fast!!!

I have no arches. I workout 5 days/wk. I use the Beast mainly for running and weight training. They hold up better than any shoe I have tried. I replace them Approx. every 6 Mos. They still look great and I use them for yard work, etc.

I bought these a year ago and just ordered anew pair this morning. I wear them everyday for work and play. Had back surgery when I bought them and wanted something to take the stress off of my back and knees. Surpassed all of my expectations.

I think I have worn the Beast shoe for maybe 10 years and have had 12-15 pairs. When I needed a new pair I saw these new models...last year sometime...and ordered them right away. I figured they would be like all the others...awesome. Well, shortly after starting to wear them I began to have foot and knee problems that were new. My wife said..."it's the shoes"...I said "no way, these are my Beasts.
I went back to my old pair and introduced another pair of shoes. My problems went away.
This week I said.."OK, I am solid now let's try them again." Well, it is three days later and I have pain again in my feet and left knee.
The Beast is gone tomorrow morning. My great shoe favorite is no more. What Next? I have no idea.
