My husband and I started trail running this year to help us prepare for endurance races. I was in need of a really good trail shoe that was light weight and had the support I needed to help push me through these races. A recommendation was given to me to try a Brooks brand shoe. The first time I tried it, I feel in love. My feet and knees did not hurt during or after my runs. I loved the technology of the shoe so much that I purchased the new Adrenaline ASR 8's. I highly recommend these shoes. I've definitely become a fan of Brooks.

I have been wearing the Adrenaline ASR7's and have went thru several pair. Since they switched to the ASR8 I have been having issues. We average 30-35 miles per week and I can't with the ASR8's. We combine road and trail which a lot of our trails are very technial. While on the road I get shin splints really bad and never had a problem with them before. I "foot slap" really bad with them also. Never having an issue with the ASR7's. I had to exchange them once and go a half size larger to help with cushioning on the forefoot but still can't resolve the shin splint issue or the lateral muscle tension that has started above the ankle with these. I think this cushioning is very hard/minimal compaired to the ASR7. I'm afraid I'm not going to find another shoe to compare to the 7's. Very Disappointed in the 8's.

First bought the ASR 7 after reading a review that it was a great shoe for trails, and also for the road to get to the trail head. I am addicted to this shoe! And after my first run today in the ASR 8's, I am hooked for life! Great on the road and the trail. I ran a 5k road race on a saturday, and a 5 mile trail race on a sunday and never missed a beat. The upgrades to the shoe are amazing. I didn't think the 7's lacked anything until I tried the 8's.

was SO hoping that these were going to be a great shoe and so sad that they are not working out ...esp. given how much they cost. I wish I could return them and get the shoes that I would like to have....these are not a good deal for me.

I bought this shoe as a hiking/backpacking shoe. After wearing the shoes for a couple of hours a day, I'm finding out that the bottom of my heel is bruised- sore enough that I have to put my feet up to relieve the pain. Otherwise the shoe is great, good width, no heel slip, and room for my toes to move around. With my wide, low volume feet, women's shoes are a bit tough to find that fit well. With a bit more heel padding, I feel this shoe would be perfect.

Disappointed! I ordered this shoe in wide, but have learned that "wide" only means more fabric used on the same footbed platform as regular! I size as regular but have sensitivity issues and wanted a wider base for trail use, esp with thicker socks. So, I really wanted a wider platform, which isn't available in this model, to relieve pressure on my 5th metatarsal.

I've had a hard time finding trail shoes which control moderate pronation. Even with these, I wear an insert for arch support. These are lightweight and have fairly good cushioning for forefoot strikers. Unfortunately the sizing is strange, I usually wear a 7 in running shoes (including Brooks) but fall in between a 7 and 7.5 in these, so my feet slide in the shoes a little in the 7.5's on the trails.

These run small! I usually wear a size 7 athletic shoe and these were measurably smaller than even my other Brooks, by 1/2 inch. My inserts wouldn't even fit inside. I will be ordering a half size up.

I bought these shoes since I live in Az. and do a combo of road/trail running. Kind of a awkward feel in the heel and a little unwanted pressure from the laces I noticed. Ran a 20k Xterra trailrace in them yesterday and was in pain mid ways through. Felt like the traction wasnt good on loose rock and could feel everything from underneath to the point I felt like I couldnt run anymore! My knees hurt as well! I actualy fell twice! I would recommend these shoes for road and light trail. The Cascadia would be more apppropriate for this type of terrain despite the weight of the shoe goes up which I was trying to avoid Im only recommending them light trail, road or gym use mainly. No rocky long trailruns!

Was really looking forward to this pair ... they were great out of the box ... but after a long run (13 miler) ... really felt that they need more cushioning for the forefoot ... so very disappointed in the shoe ... I have a feeling that I will be returning them ... unfortunately, since I had bought them with a discount attached, will not be able to replace them with something else as I cannot afford full price on shoes at this time ...

I switched to wearing Adrenaline ASR after wearing the Trance for 4 years. I find these shoes to be very comfortable and give the support I need. I have trained for marathons in these shoes, and they hold up fantastic! Great for running in deep/ slippery snow (Buffalo, NY) and also dry pavement, trails (dry, mud, or extreme) and even have worn on beach runs. Wear great on any surface. Recommend these shoes to any runner (leisure run or training runners).
