Why do you run? It feels natural and allows me to simultaneously lose myself and find myself. And, to compete, of course.
The best thing about being a Hansons-Brooks athlete? Giving myself a chance to realize one of my dreams and training with my teammates.
What have you learned since joining the Hansons-Brooks ODP? That relaxing during the day definitely helps my running.
When did you start running? I started running in the spring of 7th grade. Softball was the one sport I didn’t enjoy growing up and it was the only sport my junior high offered during that season. My math teacher, who was also the XC coach, basically coerced me into trying his out-of-season "running club," but I quickly found it was a good match.
What challenges do you face as an athlete? The ticking-clock of Father Time, which my roommates kindly remind me of every day.
What do you like to do when you're not running? Read, the proverbial "hang out," arts and crafts Sunday, play around outside.
Favorite event: Marathon.
Favorite workout: 26.2K simulator--not always fun to do, but I like what it represents.
Favorite pre- and post-race foods: Pre: toast, banana. Post: everything.
Role models: Mother Teresa. |
