Why do you run? Because Kevin and Keith make me. Seriously, because I enjoy the whole process of running, from downtime, to the first day of a segment, to the peak race at the end. It's cool to look back on.
The best thing about being a Hansons-Brooks athlete? The different personalities of the teammates that become associated with the team. We come from all over and it's neat to see how similar or different you are than someone from a different region of the US.
How have you improved since joining the Hansons-Brooks ODP? That group training should be illegal. It's a lot easier to reach your potential when you are surrounded with 15 guys who are better than you.
When did you start running? 1994, freshman year of high school at Lincoln Pius X, in Lincoln, NE.
What challenges do you face as an athlete? Keeping your body in check with all of the wear and tear that occurs.
What do you like to do when you're not running? BBQ's and major nap time.
Favorite event: The Marathon.
Favorite workout: 10 mile slice down, start at 6 minutes a mile, and slice it down every mile until you are sub 5 minutes on the last.
Favorite pre- and post-race foods: Before a race, I stick to the whole pasta thing. After a race it's pretty much Thanksgiving in my eyes.
Role models: My support system back home; family, friends, and former coaches who have gotten me to this point of my life. |
