Why do you run? I run to see how far I can push my body. I'm very competitive and was drawn to running because it is one of a few sports where you can quantify your progress.

The best thing about being a Hansons-Brooks athlete? The best thing about being a Hansons-Brooks athlete is being surrounded by people with similar goals. Having a good group around you pushes you and makes it easier to get out of bed every morning.

How have you improved since joining the Hansons-Brooks ODP? It's hard to say since I've only run one race, but I surely have improvedmy approach to training since I arrived in Michigan.

When did you start running? I started running to stay in shape for football and basketball during middle school. It wasn't much though, probably only three to five miles per week.

What challenges do you face as an athlete? Not being able to have a "normal" social life. While most people my age are going out Friday and Saturday nights I am going to bed at 10 p.m. to get ready for another run or workout the next morning. Basically our job is to be focused for 365 days a year and that can be difficult at times.

What do you like to do when you're not running? I am very interested in physiology and neurobiology, so I do a lot of reading about those subjects. I also enjoy learning languages and playing the drum set in my spare time.
