Currently running in:

 Glycerin 7

Where do you live?:  Salt Lake City, UT, but I am originally from Johnstown, PA

Day job:  Doctoral Student in Sport Psychology at the University of Utah

When did you become a Brooks I.D. Member?: October 2007

Date of birth:  September 22, 1984

High School:  Westmont Hilltop High School,  Johnstown, PA

College:  B.S., The University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA; M.S., Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, GA

Personal Record(s): Mile: 4:22; 2 Mile 9:15; 5k: 14:50; 10k: 31:50; ½ Marathon: 1:14; Marathon: 2:48.00

Events Currently Training For:  Most likely a spring marathon (maybe Pittsburgh) but I need to check out the running scene in Salt Lake to have a better idea of what’s out there.

Miles run/week: Depending on my race schedule but usually around 80 miles/week

Favorite Brooks shoes and apparel?: I love the Glycerin 7 and the Equilibrium apparel line. But I’m weartesting the Launch and I love it as well.

Why do you run?:  I run because I love to challenge myself and because it gives me freedom from the hassles of daily life. I find I write a lot better after a good run. I also love competing.

Who inspires you?:  I am inspired by my parents and their work ethic, as they give everything they have in the tasks that the face. I also am inspired by Prefontaine and his passion and drive when he ran.

The best thing about being an I.D. Member (besides the discount):  The best thing about being a Brooks ID member is that it is a family of passionate runners who are part of a great movement in our communities. I love when I run into (pun intended) other ID members at races and on the roads.

When did you start running?: I started running around the 7th grade to begin to get in better shape for ice hockey. The rest, as they say, is history.

What challenges do you face as a runner?:  As a runner, I definitely face time challenges as my degree takes up a lot of my time, but I also am working on running a more complete marathon as I come closer and closer each time I race it to a breakthrough.

What do you like to do when you're not running?: When I’m running I love to play golf, read, cycle, and spend time in the outdoors.

Favorite type of event:  10k or the Marathon

Favorite race:  The Boston Marathon

Favorite run:  In college my team (Pitt) would do a long run along all three rivers in Pittsburgh. We also used to do “opening day” run which we would run down to the Pittsburgh Pirates stadium and as soon as we crossed the bridge you could smell the beer and hot dogs knowing it was baseball season.

Favorite pre- and post-race foods: Pre-race I like to eat chicken parmesan to get a good carb and protein mix. Post-race I love to eat ice cream.
