I'm a marathon distance runner and have been buying the street Adrenelines since the #10 model (~9 pair). I'm getting into trail running and also wanted something to keep my feet dry through the wet streets of Seattle. I tried the previous orange/red GTX model; but the ride was too hard on pavement and I had to return them. I hope future GTX models get softer, but these are tolerable enough to be runable. I've put 62 miles on them so far and my feet are adjusting to them fine. Today I ran through 17 miles of rain, puddles, dirt, and street. My GTSs would have been sloshing with water, but with the GTXs: the water splashed right off!

Besides being a bit on the firm side (compared to the GTSs), the traction on wet pavement was a little limited. When climbing wet, cold, worn-out, concrete sidewalks, I felt the front center of the shoes slip a little. However, the heels were locked-down to the pavement just like the GTSs. Once I figured that out, it was just a matter of making sure I planted my heels on solid ground. But off-road, the traction is AWESOME.

I couldn't tell from the pictures, but when comparing the shoes in the store, I found that the tread of the GTX was even more knarly (knobby) than the Adreneline ASR 9s. I expect to be on some crazy off-road terrain, so I wanted a shoe with maximum bite... and for that, the Adreneline GTX 2012 delivers.

p.s. Per the cushioning of the shoe, for reference, I wear size 8.5 and weigh ~180.

I purchased these shoes with the expression intention of wearing them daily during a European trip including running. While they look good, they are very hot and do not breath....obviously must have something to do with the waterproofing and Gore-Tex. I also thought they were quite hard and I even developed a toe blister which I never do. I usually love Brooks shoes and run all the time, but these are not my favorites.

        Comments about Adrenaline GTX:

I run mostly on trails--grass, gravel, dirt. I have been running for over 10 years and this shoe is by far the best shoe I have used. Every six months or so, I like to try different brands with the hope that I discover that ultimate shoe. For me,this one is it. I do not intend to switch for a while. The inside of the shoe has a very soft, but stable fit. When I briefly step in water, I feel it splash on my ankles, but not on my feet. I have a narrow foot, which fits the shoe well. The shoe is very light, but offers good support--at least on trail conditions. I will not use this shoe on hard surfaces. The bottom does not have thick teeth, but the overall grip is good for traction on wet grass, or mud. The shoe does not wear or feel stiff. For more rocky, mountainous trail conditions this shoe may not work--I have not tried yet. In total, it is very comfortable and breaks in easy. I ran for three hours on the first try and had no problems after.

        Comments about Adrenaline GTX:

Bought last season model after wearing the ASR for years. The GoreTex is worth the extra $ as you can run thru water without hesitation. I'm a heavier runner so this shoe allows to really rip the trail on climbs and transitions. Great shoe. No blisters. You can run for hours in these no problem. Can't wait for new models to come out. I'm sold.

I do alot of walking with my job. These shoes are not only good for trail walking but also a good work shoe. I clean floors for a living and these shoes have great traction on wet floors and they also keep my feet dry when working working in wet conditions.

Great traction on hills. Holds my heel in place well while moving laterally on slopes. Good arch support. Toe box is a little tight, but not a real problem. I did use the sizing tool and ordered a size larger than my New Balance shoes. Good thing I did.

I'm 54 and have been in Brooks shoes for 15 years. I started paying senior softball at age 49 and all (I mean I tried all) cleats killed my feet and ankles. Thankfully I tried the Adrenaline GTX. Reasonably good traction to hit, play outfield and run the bases, and so much comfort. They come in black so you don't look wierd playing in them either.
