I currently work in a profession where I am standing for 8 1/2 hours a day with a half-hour break for lunch so I need something that will be very comfortable for the duration. I searched for what others used for standing all day and read a lot of good reviews about rockports and ordered a pair of those. They were OK but not what I was looking for.
I wanted a pair of the Black Adrenaline GTS's but were out in my size so I decided to try the Addiction. From the moment I put them on I could tell they were much different than the others I have tried. They make my feet a little hotter than I had liked but almost every leather-upper shoe does.
The first day was a little rough because I thought it was a good idea to wear them for the whole day without breaking them in (BIG mistake) but after a couple days I was surprised that my feet/legs didn't hurt anymore. Not to mention they don't really look like running shoes but more as casual dress shoes that go great with my work clothes.
They also absorb a lot of the shock from walking in them all day as well. Not often, but sometimes in my old shoes after a hard morning workout I would have to come home and ice my shins because of the added shock from my old work shoes.
If your looking for a shoe that you can stand in for 8+ hours and still look great in profession clothes then I highly recommend the Brooks Addiction!

I have worn Addiction Walkers for several years because the sole design prevented me from rolling my ankles (outward) and spraining them. I recently ordered two new pairs and noticed that the design of the soles has changed and the new soles actually contribute to ankles rolling outward.
I would not recommend them to anyone with this type of ankle rolling issue.
After the disappearance of their preventive value, the quality of the shoe does not seem to me to be any better than average, although the width choice is a plus.

I have been a youth soccer referee for over 18 years, and these are the best shoes I've ever found for refereeing soccer games. The soles have a decent amount of grip for even wet grass, and the support and padding have done much to alleviate the fatigue and foot pain from being out all day refereeing soccer games. Also, being all black is a plus, and they shine up quite nicely.

I have some serious structure issues in my feet that have required multiple surgeries. When I had my last surgey I worked at job where I was on my feet for 9+ hours. Even after the surgery (which did help) I am in massive pain just standing for a few minutes, running, and jumping.
My orthopedic surgeon recommended these shoes specifically to help with support and shock (in addition to my inserts)
I didnt want to like these shoes because they are not attractive, but they made a world of difference for me.
Since getting them, I can/could walk around a theme park for 8+ hours, and come home in little or no pain. Previously, I could barely stand some days. I know it's the shoes helping, because even in bare feet I am in pain.
These shoes have let me do things I couldn't before.
They have endured 6+ years of CONSTANT use. I am just now replacing them after noticing performance decrease and just NOW having the rubber sole wear out.
Excellent support and shock absorption. These sneakers have almost changed my life.

When I first got the shoe it seemed very narrow because it was laced so tight. But after wearing them for two weeks I don't want to wear any other pair. I wear them with orthotics and they are a wonderful everyday work shoe.
