I have worn Addictions for several years and always loved them, particularly for pronation support. I buy new ones once or twice a year, but this year the model was changed for the worse. The sides of the shoe are are about 1/8 inch or more higher and dig into my ankle, and the heel is about 1/8 inch or more higher making it feel like I am about to tumble over. It is a shame that Brookes couldn't leave good enough alone. Now I need to find another walking/running shoe.

Comments about Addiction 9:
I am 5'10", 190lbs. I used to be extremely active, but have slowed down in the last couple years. I have a bone spur and arthritis in my left ankle. I have a very low arch, but I am a forefoot/midfoot striker and I supinate, which is a somewhat odd combination. My podiatrist recommended the Beast because it's wide and would reduce rotation in the joint. I was somewhat unhappy with those because they lean outward to help overpronators. I bought these as a backup pair for the Beasts. Based on the other reviews I figured these would be close enough to the Beasts, while being cheaper. I actually found these to be better for running that my Beasts. These have the wide base and straight platform of the Beast, but they don't seem to lean out as much and they have a stiffer upper and are slightly lighter. I'm going to make these my primary running shoe and where the Beasts to work.

Comments about Addiction 9:
I'm a big heavy weight truck driver that needs a comfortable and durable shoe. It takes alot of searching to find the right shoe to fit my big fat feet. These Brooks fit. The Cushion is far superior for the price paid... A fantastic value..I bought 3 pair! Nuff said.

Comments about Addiction 9:
I have to wear custom inserts in my shoes. these shoes provide a strong platform for using them. I do a lot of walking and I have had a lot of trouble with shoes that do not provide the proper support, which these shoes, so far, have.

Comments about Addiction 9:
This is the third pair of Addiction 9 that I have had. They were recommended at a fitting for stability and use for my type of orthotics. I have not had any problems with my ankles with this combination. I also have a pair for sightseeing during travels.

Comments about Addiction 9:
I've owned and run in older Addiction's & Beasts and didn't have an issue. This shoe is not what I remember. Stiff and blocky. Bought to alternate with GTS 11, and there is just too much difference between the two. I'll return and exchange them for a second pair of GTS 11.

Comments about Addiction 9:
I've been wearing these shoes since 2005. I use them all the time but I don't run, I walk. My feet never hurt with these. Sometimes I try something else, but I come back to these. Best shoes ever.

Comments about Addiction 9:
I have been using the shoe for 7 years. They fit my foot. I have had no problem with the leather walker. The mesh on the regular Addiction wears out where my toes hit the mesh. This happens way faster than the shoe is overall worn out, which is a big extra expense to me. I have spoken to you about this in the past so I know you have known of this characteristic for years. That area of the toe box could be reinforced. I wonder if this is planned obsolesence on your part. If I ever find another shoe that fits I will likely change for this reason.-----A separate comment is that I don't understand why you don't make a trail shoe comparable to the addiction in widths, I wear a 9.5 4E. I will not post a public comment but I feel like the mesh toe box is an issue you should address.

Comments about Addiction 9:
This was the second pair of Addiction 9s that I've bought. The first pair while a good buy I found the shoes to be at least a half size short. They are light weight, give very good pronation control, and are good looking. The shoes do lack cushioning especially for heel strike. They are vastly improved by replacing the inserts/insoles with a better grade of insole. Even better when coupled with medium weight SmartWool sox. I average over 6 miles walking per day, thus I really look for comfort and fit in a pair of shoes.
