About Brooks

Employee ProjectsHelping Our CommunitiesWe believe actions speak louder than words. That’s why Brooks employees dedicate time to getting out (and sometimes getting dirty) to help our communities. In recent months, Brooks employees have scrubbed, weeded, hammered, cooked, sorted, mopped and nailed to help those in need.In March, 12 Brooks employees volunteered to help out Northwest Parks Foundation and the City of Woodinville by cleaning up the Sammamish River Trail for our first Run B’cause community service activity of 2008. Working tirelessly, the group managed to clear blackberry bushes and other non-native invasive plants from a huge area of the trail. The Volunteer Coordinator for the City of Woodinville said, “Your group was per capita the most productive group with which I have had the privilege to work.” ![]() The Brooks Sammamish River Trail Cleanup Crew In June, 14 Brooks employees spent eight hours cleaning and cooking/serving dinner to more than 100 people at Seattle’s Ronald McDonald House. The House, located a couple blocks away from Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, provides housing and support for families and their seriously ill children who are undergoing treatment at the hospital. All families have come to the House from at least 60 miles away; most are from Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska, but others have come from all over the world for specialized treatments offered at Children’s. Brooks also donated shoes, apparel and accessories to House residents, many of whom arrived in Seattle with no more than a duffel bag full of possessions. ![]() Brooks employees are all smiles after serving up dinner at the Seattle Ronald McDonald House Also in June, a total of 12 employees in two separate groups from Brooks’ distribution center volunteered to help Northwest Harvest, a community funded, state-wide hunger relief agency. Efficiently sorting and packing food, one group managed to bag 1,100 lbs of chocolate in just three hours. The other packed more than 9,000 lbs of food that will be sent to food banks around the state of Washington. This effort alone from Brooks helped feed 3,400 families in need. ![]() A Brooks employee helps sort food at Northwest Harvest In June, an additional eight Brooks employees hammered their hearts out during a volunteer project with Habitat for Humanity.
