Apparel Developer

General Position Description:
The Apparel Product Developer is responsible for taking global line direction established by Product Management and bringing the product line to fruition, from initial conception to final specifications and salesmen samples; delivering the line in a timely manner and with the greatest profit margin possible. The APD will be the Development driver of their assigned categories of product -Women’s, Men’s, Accessories, etc. to execute this the APD will work with a Technical Service Team along with the ability to consult with the Senior Product Developer for advice on prioritization of projects.
 
Responsibilities ( include but are not limited to):
Calendar dates:
-          Honor and deliver on all dates established on the Brooks apparel and accessory product calendar, applicable to the categories you are responsible for.
Process management:
-          The APD will drive the development process andimplement all necessary steps during prototyping, right through photo shoot and sales samples. This includes executing or delegating to other team members tasks such as keeping line list and Tech Packs updated, trims and fabric development, etc. The APD will be the main contact between Brooks Sports, Inc. and the assigned garment vendors, ensuring that our seasonal calendar and expectations are clearly communicated and adhered to by our vendor partners.  Upon final review and comments of Sales Samples, management of the process will end when the final Tech Pac is handed over to the Technical Services Team.   
Approval sample management:
-          Developers will create and manage a reference library of approved samples; with marked approval dates and current Tech Packs.
Team and resource management:
-          As the lead person driving the development process, the APD will work with the raw materials developer, and trims developer to ensure all BOM’s have the correct trims and fabric information. They will also work with the Spec and Pattern engineers to fit and alter garments to meet the requirements of a specific design or function.
Sketch work:
-          The APD will also be asked to create sketch work applying to: Seasonal Apparel, Trims, Line Plans, Graphics, SMU’s etc.
-          Work to ensure that all pertinent artwork is filed and kept well organized.  It must also be accessible on company drives.
The Apparel Product Developer is also viewed as a driving force for the lines creativity and technologies. The APD is expected to participate and give input on Design, Fit and Technologies that would better the product Offering.
 
Minimum Requirements:
1.       Bachelor’s degree in textiles or related field; may be substituted with relevant experience
2.       Minimum of 3 years apparel research and development or related experience
3.       Strong understanding of garment construction and methods
4.       Activewear experience preferred
5.       Proven initiative and problem solving abilities, with strong written and verbal communication skills
6.       Computer Proficiency in MS Excel, and Adobe Illustrator, a must
7.       An enthusiast for running and an active lifestyle with a “can do” attitude
