Took this on my first marathon and had no hitches. The length was just right as it allowed complete movement but wasn't embarrassingly short. I wore these with UA 6in briefs, and didn't have any issues with the inside liner. I carried 3 GU gels in the back pocket during the race and didn't really notice them there, but at 4 gels you will feel it moving around. The little pocket inside was large enough to carry my card, car key, and a little cash. Oddly enough, nothing fell out until I finished the race (maybe from sitting down to stretch?) Either way, glad I bought these shorts, nice design, will probably buy another pair!

I was excited to try these shorts. Great material, design, and fabric. I have one issue - the fabric bunches in the front, especially on the upper stride. While I'm not sure of the design solution, I would have liked a longer side vent as I feel some restriction.

These shorts feel great, and are lightweight. I wear them for my morning run before the sun comes up, so I appreciate the added visibility. Good all-around shorts.

Comments about 5" Essential Run Short:
It's like somebody made a short just for me. Love the light weight. Yet, they're sturdy and stand up to the washer and dryer. Love the mesh side panels. Comfy, even in Palm Springs' 110. I love these shorts so much, I wear them around the house, running errands - not just for the gym. Please DO NOT CHANGE THEM OR EVER STOP MAKING THEM. Or I'll jump off my spinning bike. Thanks, Brooks. You rock, rock, rock.

Comments about 5" Essential Run Short:
I bought the men's size medium based on the Brooks size recommendations. They fit well in the waist, and are longer than many running shorts, which I appreciate. Still, for my leg length (I'm about 6'1") they are not quite long enough to feel comfortable at the gym unless I'm only on the treadmill. Not a big deal, as I'm interested mainly in running shorts; just a note that these may not be long enough for those who plan to lift weights, shoot hoops, etc.
Overall, great shorts!

Comments about 5" Essential Run Short:
I bought this for my weekly runs. A small fits me great, although I think I should be wearing a medium. I'm 5'10" 170lbs. I'll just say it's for when I lose some of my butt fat. This has 2 pockets, one external zippered pocket that is perfect size for my keys so it doesn't jingle jangle when I run, and an internal non-zippered pocket that I'll eventually figure out how to stick an ipod nano in there without it falling out mid-run. Aside from that the material is great so far, it doesn't constrict me anywhere. I would buy again.

Comments about 5" Essential Run Short:
Great pair of shorts. Does not ride up when running, allows a full range of motion, and light weight. The fabric may be to thin, causing the shorts to have a short life span. I find them to be an excellent pair of shorts for long runs.

Comments about 5" Essential Run Short:
Great shorts. I am 31 waist 145 lbs. I ordered a small and a medium. The small is the better fit. The medim works just a little baggy but some people prefer that.

Comments about 5" Essential Run Short:
Love the color selection. I am tired of mens running shorts that only come in black or gray.
I bought these to train for my first marathon and especially like the 5" size. Just short enough for not getting chafed. I bought three pair and will buy more in the future.

Comments about 5" Essential Run Short:
I won't lie, I like short shorts. That said they are not always the most appropriate like in the winter or in the snow, etc. These 5" shorts disappear on your body almost as well as the Infiniti Short III but don't make you look like that guy who always wears mini running shorts year round.
They are very thin, dry fast, don't restrict your movement and the pocket is big enough for your car key or one gel.
